Q:

22 Cal Marauder #2

I had to take advantage of that AOA $399 Marauder sale. So I bought my 2nd one and upon arrival last week, and before one shot was made, I stripped the stock off and took the Dremel to it. I like the Marauder, but hate the stock. I customized my first Marauder ( #18 ) as you may remember, but I am going further with this one.

I cut off the lefty cheek piece and made a little comb over as before, put the finger grips in the grip and this time I made two finger channels in the forearm. That forearm is rather fat, so this thinned it down some

Topped with a Center Point 8-32×56 illuminated side focus on high UTG rings and a Harris style bipod, she looks decent. Now to take some shots …. 😆

ps = check out my homemade spinner targets in the background. Hit em and they spin like a windmill.

I removed the check piece for “lefties” with a belt sander. Secure the stock in a vice ( protect the wood ) or have someone hold it and use the belt sander to remove the large portion cheek piece. Just take off the general area then go to the dremel with 3/4″ sanding drums.

On the grip finger pads – dremel with 3/4″ sanding drums.

Once the entire stock is stripped clean of the Benjy paint, then draw a line where you want your forearm grooves. Using the dremel with sanding drums on high, lay it flat on the stock and carefully start your channel. Start off with a pattern groove and lay down continious passes to make it deeper and then wider to your preference. Caution = do not go too deep or you’ll penetrate the barrel channel

Now I thought about routing in some channel vents along the forearm – now that may look cool too !

What tool on the dremel did you use to get the finger groves? The circular sandpaper wheel?

How about the comb-over….a circular cutting tool, of just spun it off with another tool?

I’m getting ready to do some serious work on mine when I get back from the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia on the 28th.

Been thinking of a bull-pup stock…still thinking hard on that one.

The Hoot 😯

Looks pretty damn good Tach, lovely work as usual.

Gotta love the marauder!
