Q:

My furthest kill with the Edgun so far

I shot a crow today with my Edgun at a distance of 97 yards. It was almost at the very tip of the farthest and tallest pine tree you see in this picture. I would have guessed 130 yards but my rangefinder says 97. It’s a good thing I was wrong or I would have missed because I guessed on my holdover based on my inaccurate guess and wouldn’t have compensated enough if I had known it was 97 yards instead of 130+. Pictures always make things look further so I zoomed the image in to make the picture look as close to what I actually saw when I took the shot. The best part was guessing the holdover and then watching the pellet impact through the scope and seeing the feathers scatter before the crow went down. I took the shot knowing that if I had missed, the pellet wouldn’t have landed in a populated area because I live near the river and I was shooting in that direction.

I took the Edgun out to my buddy’s property later in the day and checked my holdover at 97 yards and it was right on! I had guessed correct earlier in the day but only because I was wrong about the initial distance. I really wish I had a video of this one or some pictures of the crow as proof but I just went back in my house after the shot and closed my sliding door. I just love these far shots. I cannot wait until my Airwolf MCT arrives and I can see what she can do while accurately shooting 40 ft/lbs. My Edgun shoots around 31.5 ft/lbs using JSB 18.1 grain pellets. Looks like I’m going to have to buy some Kodiaks for the MCT and I also want to see how she shoots with the JSB Monsters.

Nice shot! 😯

115 (126 yards) meters twice. 5.5 mildots above.

Looks like a nice shot 😎

VERY COOL 😀 😀 😀

I’m using a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14×44 with a Rapid Z 800 reticle and the scope was set on 14 power when I took the shot. I wouldn’t have had to use as many lines if I had set the scope to 10 power but I wasn’t sure about the distance at the time so I just cranked it up to the max before the crow could get away. The Edgun/scope was only zeroed to 30 yards so I placed the crow’s head at the beginning of the thicker line right below the line marked with the number 8. 😀

What kind of scope are you using and what was it set at when you made that incredible shot?

😯 😎 😎

Thats sweet verminator you will always have that memory every time you see a crow at the top of any big pine . And the confidance and the range to know you can do it again

Nice shot Varminter…it’s not really a guess when you connect….a couple of those crow feathers tied in a bunch and suspended from a stick works like a charm when calling in coyotes…they will never look in your direction, and that Daystate will be perfect for ‘um…
