Q:

Talon SS fps

just traded for a Talon SS in 22 cal I have a condor my question and I am sure it has been asked before what speeds should I be getting out of a stock SS 22 cal. 12 inch barrel? I know I can gain some with an 18 inch barrel but I kind of like the fact that this ss is short and will be easy to transport. Also thought about getting a .177 cal in 12 inch so if any of you have either one or both of these barrels let me know mainly interested in FPS with different pellet wieghts in the 22 cal and the .177 thanks Eddie

Thanks JD just trying to get all the info I can before I buy so when I do purchase a barrel it won’t all be guess work thanks again Eddie

My SS is only .177 and .20——going from 12-18″ in .177 added a considerable amout of speed and the air was more useable(more shots)===think just about 100 fps—shot to shot consistency goes up—smooths out the curve. Most say if a stock SS in .22 shoots a 21gr kodiak just under 800fps 12″–18″ should get you just under 900fps—the jsb 18gr may shoot at 900 in an 18″—-16 grainer may get really close to 1000fps.

So JD how much speed are you talking about going from a 12 inch barrel to an 18 inch barrel?? In 22 cal and 177

Adding an 18″ barrel wont add much length to a SS frame say maybe half inch or so—-will add volume -as in LOUD REPORT—and a good bit of speed of course—-adds nice weight to the SS as well….

18.1 grains I get 760. I can get more but loose accuracy.
