flatten spring

Hi
Sorry.
After cutting a spring which is the best way to flatten the end?

Press it to the desired shape using pliers, heat (I use a blowtorch) and let it cool while keeping it in the pliers. Once its cooled somewhat it will stay that shape, then using a grinding wheel.

Locking pliers help as you can set the spacing so you dont need to keep trying to apply even pressure.
