Custom breech question?
I made a custom breech for my gun, and I have a weird problem. The trigger mech. won’t engage when I cock the gun, when there is spring pressure on it. If I remove the spring and cock it, it engages fine. I pretty much made the notch on the bottom of the breech the same size and depth, the only major difference is the O.D. of the breech is bigger than the stock which make for a better fit, but the outer casing is aluminum. I can’t deepen the notch as the barrel is extremely close to the notch cut already. Any ideas?

Sounds like the sear is not aligned with the slot? Is the breech being pushed to one side slightly under spring pressure?
Is the slot lined up with the cocking knob exactly?
Or maybe lengthen the slot in the breech some more?

The notch is going directly over the sear, the cocking knob fit’s nicely in the slot. W/O spring pressure the sear will engage about 1/4″-3/8″ and lock the hammer back. W/ spring pressure I can feel the notch but the hammer does’nt lock back and the breech just continues forward till the end of the cocking knob slot.
I’ll try to get a pic up-don’t laugh as I tried to do this w/o any type of real machine work or prefered materials, more of an experiment to see if it would work and function.
