Benjamin Hand Pump
Had my hand pump for a little over a year here is what I usually do hook it up to my tank pump it up or top it off I have always pushed it down for my final stroke blead it off and everything has been fine, Tonight I used it and for some reason I left the pump handle up and bleed it off and now I cannot push it down with the bleed valve off or on I don’t want to force it down it almost acts like an air block you can push it down then it gets really hard and won’t go the last couple inches, I find it hard to beileve something broke because it was working fine and all I did is bleed the air out! I have seen the post on a rebuild and if that is what I end up doing that’s ok but I really think it is some kind of combination to get it out of the state it is in any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to let everyone know I did get my pump fixed once I had the time to work on it, I ended up changing the orings I could get and took the most abuse from pumping I think my problem to begin with was a stuck check valve the one at the bottom brass pointed peice with small o ring on it spring was ok I thought that might be the problem it looked fine so all is better I don’t use it allot but when my tank gets low I top it off by hand pumping not bad to do if your scuba tank gets it to 2400 or so I fill to 2600 most of the time anyway unless I am doing some fps testing to see what speeds It can get max. Anyway all is better thankyou guys for the help it is always appreciated 🙄

I did try it hooked up to the tank same thing I thought that might be the problem but didn’t seem to work either
Something else you should get if you have to fix it is the check valve spring. That was the problem when I fixed mine, the spring got moisture on it, rusted, fell apart, and fucked up half of the o-rings. 👿
Let it sit and try it in the morning. I have never bled the air out when the pump handle was up but my handle has got stuck in the up position before. Once when mine stayed up I let it sit for a few hours and after that it worked for a few more fills then needed repaired.
If you do need to fix it just get an o-ring kit, some silicone grease, and go at it. I have heard on other forums that you should not disassemble a handpump because of it’s complexity. 🙄 Thats a bunch of BS.
Did you try pushing down when it’s hooked to your tank?
My AF kinda fought back like that when I burnt the seals.
