My guess is that its a lame attempt by AF to supress twang from the hammer spring, hence the word “silencer” on that piece of tape.
crowpopper, go ahead and remove it, (your rifle WONT become “twangy” or anything), but you wont be able to brag that your rifle has “space age materials” inside it. LOL 😆

It gets rid of tank ping 😆 Na not really. Spring twang I would assume. Actually I have seen tape and things like this on a lot of springs in products before. I took it off. Looked like it would get in the way some how.
It might wor like a string silencer for a bow. Just a thougt.

They probably had some school kid on work experience put the wrong spring in the gun and now they label them up so no muppet gets the wrong again lol

DO NOT REMOVE THAT TAG…. for every tag removed from a spring in an Air Force gun, God kills a puppy.
Yes once the tag is removed your gun becomes exponentially less lame.

Mine must have been the upgraded model. It had regular tan colored masking tape. 😆
I accidentally removed it a year or so ago. I regret it every day. 🙁 🙁
