New scope picked up today!
On the way home today, checked the Mail box. I had a pink slip. said sorry I missed you, come to the main post office, to pick up a package.Off to the post office, presented the pink slip and the lady went to fetch the package, she returned to inform me the package was still on the mail carriers vehicle? Said ” Come back tomorrow after 8:3 30 AM”, I said “That’ s not an option.”Weather forecast for Tomorrow, 12 inches Snow, to start tonight about 9:00 pm and end late saturday after noon. She said come back today before 5:00 pm, closing time, to check, if not Saturday, needless to say, I picked it up at 5?

First look: It was well packed in a large box with about 3 inches of balled up news paper as packing. The scope was packed in a thick plain shiny black box, white label on the end, M16ML, no other labels? The top as also the bottom had sponge foam. the scope was in square sponge foam with holes. No Styrofoam?
The scope was packed in a black velvet bag, made me think of a Crown Royal bag. Included was 2 allen wrenches, 2 sun shades and a lens cleaning cloth. Also in the box was a owner’s manual, all of one page, Just common sense do’s and don’ts, models using Mil/Mil and Moa/mil turrets./reticles
The overall appearance was matte black with the power adj. ring being a satin matte black. At first it looked like rubber, but it is not. The power ring/focus/elevation/windage turrets are stiff, but not hard to turn. The elevation/windage clicks are loud and very crisp. I have to say much better than my swfa ss 10×42 or centerpoint. My swfa ss 10×42 clicks are silent.
The glass is better than my swfa ss and centerpoint scopes. The skeleton mil reticle looks great. No dots, just cross bars:

The reticle is small and sharp @ 4x and @ 14x is large and sharp: click link for reticle. 14x was bright and sharp also.
The only gripe I have so far is the focus/parallax turret. It has no numbers, just a long, skinny triangle. The point @ 10 meters and the flat @ infinity. I’m not gonna let this bother me. Because I’m no field target or 10 meters, or anything closer than 30 meter/yards? If it comes to it, will use pen and tape to calibrate my own custom meter/yardage parallax turret?
Got it mounted @ sunset and with snow all day tomorrow, will zero some time sunday.
Sad feeling putting that swfa ss 10×42, back into it’s box, but have plans to trade it back to swfa on a Vortex pst 4-16×50 FFP, of course won’t be an even trade? These won’t be available until late spring. It was hard waiting a month for the falcon and will try my patience to wait for the viper.

Scope was returned and refund has been received. The vari power ring was too hard to turn. Out in the cold was all I could do to turn, didn’t want to twist scope rail.
Also didn’t have patience to wait, a month, for exchange, which was an option.
I happen to get a bad one, the glass was best I ever owned. just don’t have gorilla strength to turn power ring.

Well after some research seems I am using Russian mil’s instead of U.S.marine mil’s
What I should have wrote is 1mrad is equal to 3.375 inches @ 100 yards, so .1mrad clicks equals to .3375 inches @ 100 yards. Or .1mrad equals to 1cm @ 100m.
Or .1mrad clicks equal .34moa 1/3moa @ 100yards. Either way 3 .1mrad clicks equals 1in @ 100 yds

The Snow was about 10 inches and wind was a very lite breeze.
I set a target @ 10 m/11 yds and took a shot. about 6″ low 3″ left. That was when I got my first good look at the Elevation/windage turrets. .1 1/10 mil/mrad clicks. Wow 10 clicks to get 1 mil/mrad, That”s a whole lotta clicks, I though to myself. 1 mil/mrad = 3.6 inches @ 100 yds? So .1 mil/mrad = .36 inch per each click sooooooooo 3 .1mil/mrad clicks eqauls 1.08 inches @ 100 yds, if my math is correct?.
Roughly poi moves 1 inch per 3 clicks, Exactly 1 click less than a 1/4 iphy / 1/4 moa turret. Whew, not that many clicks, after all.
No problem zeroing @ 10 meter, so moved back about 40 yards. Not even on the Paper now. Had to crank the elevation turret one compete revolution? 6 mil/mrad or 21 inches of elevation. The falcon menace has a total of 22 mil/ 79 inches total elevation and the turret was at the bottom. I didn’t center the e turret so I guess this brought it up close to center.
Zeroed @ 40 yards and my best groups were clover leaf and 3 pellet strings. I could not keep the flyers in the groups. Just my shooting am and blameing the wind. ha ah ha!
Today the power ring was a bitch. Much harder to turn than I liked it to be!
I like the ffp riticle alot. This reticle is very very thin. no danger of covering a target of any size period……… on any mag. The reticle is lost in any subdued target. sighting a black pine trunk in the shadow, plain disappears. This is black on black sight picture. Another black pine trunk in mid day sun no problem. The reticle is also easily lost in thick brush.
Seems sofar this is not a reticle for brush hunting, but maybe a sunny day scope. Reason being the reticle has very very fine lines. No night hunting, I don’t think you could see the reticle,
I realize now, for brush hunting a thick mil dot reticle is needed.
I like this scope so far and it is a keeper.
Tomorrow I need to find a large box and then do the box test 😯

Yep, their ret’s are THIN!!! IN some of their models, they use skeleton ret.s You can’t see them at all in diml light. 😕
