I will do my best to load some later.

PICTURES!!!!!

If you don’t own a hmr go out and get one they are great. 7 shots from 70 to 130 yards and I just pointed and pulled the trigger. Bloody awsom.

I thought I would be upset without my stealth but this is great.

Thanks for asking hoot.
Unfortunatlly no one was identified so the rusty old spoon stayed in the draw this time. She now has a 1993 CBR600F and she seams to like this one just as much as the last.

I am still waiting for the call from the guys at KWG about my sako and I bet it will be today because the wind is up with gusts…

Not wanting to open an old wound…but from time to time I’ve wondered how the stolen wife’s bike situation turned out?

I worry about you.

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot 😯

PS: I own a Savage in .17 caliber. I can only put my shots in a quarter sized ring at 100 yards. My brother in law thought that was pathetic until I ripped out the quarter sized group and held it between my eyes.

You need perspective in such matters.

I have been out with my friend quite a bit in the last 2 weeks and if they are head shots they are fine. Body shots are worth nothing more then fox bait…

Are you gonna be shooting rabbits with it? If so, I hope you aren’t expecting to eat them afterwards…. 😯 😆

morning all, i am hoping i will get a call from KGW in handcross today saying its arrived and ready for collection. My uncle has a fox problem 😎

i am getting a harris bipod with it but not sure which to get. i am wondering about this one – http://www.harrisbipods.com/HB25.html – as i would like to take prone and kneeling shots from it.

will keep you all posted.

Mine loves the 17 TNT round. She’ll do 1/4″ at 100 consistently.

17 foxes so far. One at well over 175 yds. 😀

It doesn’t provide quite the same gleeful “red mist” effect of the 50gr V-maxes coming out of the .223’s at 3350 fps

ROFL 🙂 That’s 1246 ft/lbs of energy vs 245 ft/lbs… I bet there’s a red mist and ticker tape parade for the 223 …the definition of overkill, love it…

Congrats, Sako makes a GREAT gun. I almost bought a Sako Quad myself.

Another happy .17 HMR shooter here. I have a Marlin 917 VSF in a Revival Tundra laminate thumbhole stock with a Rifle Basix trigger at 1lb. It’s not as well built as the Sako but it’s still extremely accurate. It’s my go-to ground squirrel blaster in areas too small to safely use my .223 centerfires (either a modded Remington 700 heavy stainless fluted or a 24″ heavy barreled AR-15.)

Many a squeaker has fallen to the .17… great little caliber! Mine also shoots the most consistent with the Hornady 17 grain V-max. It doesn’t provide quite the same gleeful “red mist” effect of the 50gr V-maxes coming out of the .223’s at 3350 fps but the little .17 it still knocks ’em dead-right-there out to 175 yards or so and tears them up pretty badly under 75 yards.

I have a Savage 17HMR with bull barrel. That puppy can put all five shots touching at 100 yards without even trying. My friend has a Ruger 77/17 and loves it.

I’ve tested all the ammo for the 17HMR and only use the Hornady 17gr V-MAX (ballistic tip) and 20gr XTP (limited expansion hollow point). You mileage may vary depending on your gun.

One thing to note: My gun sucks after a thorough cleaning and when I got it new until 50-60 rounds have gone through it. Keep that in mind when you’re sighting in.

I am looking forward to no more “bollix that fox is too far away” thinking and the 17g pellet seams to do a good job. The heavier 22g hollow point should be a blast too but that’s a different size of target if you ask me.
