airguns that are quick/easy to set up
I am having a ball with my Condor — I’ve had it going on two months now.
The only downside is that between filling it and putting the tank back on, it can add to the hassle of setting up to shoot. For me, it works out better if I have an hour or so to shoot and want to either hunt or really focus on accuracy.
I’m thinking about getting another air rifle in .177 or bb that is easy to set up (and possibly a repeater). It wouldn’t be something in the same class as an Airforce gun in terms of power or accuracy. Just something I could pick up for 20 minutes and shoot cans after work for fun.
Characteristics I’m looking for:
- Easy to use powerplant (probably either single stroke sidelever or CO2)
Easy to set up. Light and easy to store
Either bb or pellet
Repeater is a plus, but not a deal breaker
I thought about the Hammerli 850 magnum, but that might be a little high end for what I’m looking for. I could be talked into it though if it’s the best way to go.

- Drozd
Crossman 1077 series
QB-78 CO2 with the magazine accessory
QB-57 — (not a repeater or CO2, but inexpensive, small, light and easy to cock)

Get a Co2 Talon SS . Familiar with gun. Short and light. Lots of cheap shots. Gun for friend. Problem solved! :8:

Thanks a ton for your suggestions. I still haven’t made up my mind yet. I have the CO2 adapter for my Condor and I know I will enjoy that. I also like the idea of getting something else too, just in case I’m shooting with a friend, or my Condor is out of commission for some reason.
I am looking to stay under $200.00 total. The Hamerli 850 is definitely a great gun, but I am going to put more money into my Condor setup before investing in that.
I have found a couple more guns that look good for what I am trying to do:
The Daisy 953 has gotten good reviews on Pyramyd Air. It is single stroke and has a 5 shot clip.
The IZH 61 and MP-514K both look good. It looks like the IZH 61 has a superior form and action, but the MP-514K has a better magazine system.
I’m also still interested in the QB-57.
Has anyone here ever shot any of those guns? Thanks again for the advice.

SLR-98….
Both are underlever repeater springers…. with the Theoben SLR being more expensive, of course.
The 300R can still be found now and then on the classifieds. Seems I’ve seen them in the $350 range, while the SLR is still being produced new at a bit over $1k. (ouch)
The rws 850 is the way to go. New is cost effective, need about 5 clips. paint ball adapter and hammer spring mod or heavy hammer. 9 oz co2 paint ball tank and paint ball tank adapter from Brain and Associates?? The co2 version will suffer valve lock without the hammer/hammer spring mod.
Available in 22 or 177, couple hundred shots per co2 tank, less with hpa mod. use stock iron sites or add any scope with matching 11mm rings available.
8 shots as fast as you can cycle the bolt.

how about an airforce co2 adapter?
tons of shots,
only a hundred bucks,
even less if you can find one used,
plus all the accuracy and comfort of a gun you are already use to shooting
its not a repeater but all you have to do is load, aim, squeeze, repeat

That is the most fucked-up avatar I have ever seen.
Try the QB79 I have one with the big CO2 bottle and it gets like 900 shots per fill. real accurate to . only problem just a little under poaered .
570 fps with 18.1 jsbs.

Beeman r7. Or hw-30s. The hw has sights, r7 doesn’t come with any. I’m not current on the specs, my dad has had one since the eightys. It’s quite (one time one we took turns standing across the yard (40 or so yards) to listen to the different sounds of pellets whizzing by.
The trigger is super, my dads is an older no safety which I like better. And I think some basic hw-30 model has a different trigger. But the rekord is the standard for a nice trigger.
It cocks super easy. One after noon I blew through most of a tin without noticing. I was shooting bit of clay pigeon, offhand (old little 4x Beeman scope too) at way too far away for my skill. I got in a rhythm, to I mostly noticed the clicking click of the cocking cycle more than any effort or thought of it. At any rate my point is its a pretty handy shooter. If my dad didnt let me shoot his, and I wanted a fun springer, I’d get one.
Sorry if I rambled on, I had to share my fondness of the little gun.
