Q:

Top Hat @ 65 Fill @ 2800 Pw 5 33String

I am getting 730fps with these settings 18.1 grain pellet. Should I be getting more fps for a Talon ss that is Heavily Baffled Internally?

LOL

Ours is so thick I can turn it over and shoot from the other side before its finished.

800 pages of a phone book ??? Ours only has 7 😕 😕 😕

TSS 177, TH 0.86, Fill 2500psi, PW 4.0. I get 50 powerful shots with 10.6gn Kodiaks. Ending pressure 1600psi. I penetrate 800 pages of a phone book until 1600psi.

Try a lower fill pressure, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, and your scuba tank or pump will will benefit.

ivannj—why can’t you move the top hat? those **%^!! screws stripped out? If so, you can buy an “EZ-OUT” small enough to work on those..just FYI 😀
Crazy isn’t it?? You can’t get yours to move ….I can’t get mine to stay still!!! and so it is…………………..
So, why won’t TH move?? And how did it cend up being set @ .065? Inquiring minds need/want/got to know 😮

YUP..just think of the pellet bill!! From building Crosmans, which are way simple compared to these..you can GO THROUGH SOME PELLETS trying to find that ever elusive”sweet spot”…no! not THAT one 🙄

Sorry been busy playing socom. I think it does slow down pellets but don’t know by how much.

Bump. What’s the latest word here?

I don’t know what kind of baffles you have, but I never heard or read of baffles slowing down a pellet????

I thought the Airforce Pcps doesn’t have a curve.

My oh my, you have much to learn grasshopper….
The only guns without curves are the regulated guns…
It should have a curve ivann….
Should start at around 720 go up to 750ish and then back down to 720….
Every gun will have a different curve with the same settings and fill
pressures. Honestly and sadly, there is no majic formula to give you…. It
just takes lots of testing and adjusting….

I thought the Airforce Pcps doesn’t have a curve.

With normal setting @ 105 I started in the 770s but I did not use the internal Baffling system I have in now. With 18.1grain pw @ 8

I don’t remember the baffling slowing anything down but someone might
have a comparison that proves different,,,,

So if it was running 770 with the TP on .105, why did you change it?
There will be a fine line between top speed and waisting air…. That is the
thing that is really hard to find….. It takes a lot of time and adjusting to
find out where it shoots the fastest with the most efficient use of air….

I wish I could adjust the hat but it is stuck @ 65 for now. If I put the pw to 8 I start 740s, If I put the pw to 10 start in the 750s.

Ok, then it sounds like you need to reduce the amount of your fill and
leave the PW on 10…. That should help the hammer open the valve more
at the beginning so that your shot string will start low, rise to
740ish and then begin to slow again….You really need to get the Tophat
unstuck and do some more adjusting…. I am pretty sure that a higher
Tophat will yield a higher range of FPS over all….

Here is a 33 String starting @ the setting above.
732,732,735,734,731,732,729,727,728,728,729,725,726,726,723,728,723,721
727,728,728,725,719,719,720,721,719,719,719,715,716,717,710.
Avg.723

It is a great and consistant string but you should try to fill to 3,000, or
turn down your power wheel and see if you can get it to start at
around 710 rise up to 735 and then back down again to 710…. That
would be a perfect curve…. If your Tophat is still at .065″ then you really
need to try it at .080-.090 and see what you get if you want more
speed….. If you fill to 3,000psi with the same PW setting and the FPS
starts too low then turn the PW up. If it still starts too high then lower the
PW…
