home made shroud help
okay so i made a shroud and its just a hollow tube and it works pretty well but i was wondering if it was possible to make it quieter by drilling holes at various point in the tube? If so is it best to drill on the tube near the end where the pellet exits, close to the barrel, or on the “cap” (in my case the cut off bottom of a king sized sharpie XD) at the end the pellet passes through

WOK… I know what I will be doing tomorrow….
Drilling holes does help quiet the report and I have done it on my LD shroud.
I drilled a line on the bottom of the shroud with small drill bit and it helps quiet the shroud down quit a bit.
Look at a smart parts paintball barrel and see what size hole they use. You can find them online. I dont remember what size I used and am to lazy to find out 😀

Ahh yea you said that didn’t you…. you should be fine… Slap a little
spray paint on it and be done…. I have an LDC on my co2 gun and it has
nothing in it either.,… Plenty quiet as you described……
oh im using c02 so no worries and it works well so im not gonna risk messing it up plus it would be hard as h*ll to open up

Ok, if you are using a single tube, you don’t want to drill any holes in it…
You would want a few short pieces of tube with holes drilled in them,
wrapped with Scotch Brite (Green pot scrubbing pads) and seperated by
fender washers with 3/8″ holes to slip inside the outer tube.. There has to
be some clearance between the inner and outer tubes…. If you could
epoxy some washers inside the outer tube, that would work too BUT, you
are dealing with a lot of volume and pressure and could blow the thing
up… There was an aluminum one that blew up so I would assume plastic
would blow even easier…. just becareful…..

The co2 that drifts out the front after i fire does have a pretty dramatic effect though

Ok, I drilled my Aluminum capped, Carbon Fiber tube, LDC today to see
if it would make it quieter…. Well, that does not work… The more holes
drilled the louder it gets…….
