talk me into another gun
I was thinking Air Wolf MCT. Then FX Royale because it’s cheaper. Then back to the Edgun because it’s about the same price. I guess my issue with the Edgun is that I don’t understand how it’s that much better than my Condor for the money.
Help!

My two cents… As far as accuracy my Royale is most accurate of my current three air rifles -it does have the smooth twist barrel and I feel its truely amazing. The Royale is far more quiet than my shrouded BSA Sportsman HV .22, which is a fairly loud gun although , it does carry legendary BSA accuracy- I’d closely comparable to Condor power. My 18″ Talon SS .20 caliber Id say is the most quiet gun I own, it is moderated but, there is also something very mystical about the .20 caliber air gun – a 14.3 grain .20 caliber pellet leaving the barrel at 900+ stays going fast for a long time…. 😯 . Back to the most recent gun – the Royale- it is truley amazing- unregulated and can be faily big power if you choose to set it up that way- and will shoot a string with pretty much no curve- out of the box on a 200 bar fill it shot 70 shots with an extreme spread of 41– again 70 shots from 200 bar 😀 😯 … the Walnut stock is really great looking — and that Ben Taylor guy has got that barrel all figured out — Again Ive yet to shoot an Air Wolf or an Edgun – but the Royale with the smoot twist barrel is truly some thing GREAT as far as I am comcerned.
You can get a Whisper for $599??? That is almost too good to pass up.
Is there any truth to the rumors that there will be an improved Edgun this year?
Maybe a Whisper until the new Edgun appears?
Ask anyone here who owns both. You are comparing apples to oranges. The Edgun is far superior to the Condor in every way except for power. If you enjoy chasing the power curve or are purely a power freak then stick with your Condor. No matter how much you spend on your Condor, it will never be an Edgun or MCT. The Edgun is the ultimate air rifle if you want something amazingly consistent, very accurate, lightweight, very compact, and it’s even quiet. My Edgun had a ES of 11 and SD of 2.52 with an average of 31.45 fpe over a 50 shot string using JSB 18.1 grain.
The MCT is again superior to the Edgun if you are after a very high shot count and don’t care about compactness or weight. The MCT is the most accurate rifle I have ever had my hands on. The Italian Walnut stock is beautiful and it is also well balanced. The MCT also has the best trigger ever, but again it’s all preference and some prefer a mechanical trigger. The only thing I don’t like about the MCT is the price but it’s not cheap to have the best.
The Royale is also a great choice. It is very accurate but light at the same time. This is definitely one of my favorites so far because it gives you higher power, it’s very accurate, and it’s lightweight! The barrels have changed about 3 months ago to what they are calling a smooth twist. It is supposedly even more accurate than the previous barrel. I had the previous barrel and was impressed. I too was disappointed with the quietness of the Royale with the factory moderator but I wouldn’t call it loud either. The thumbhole stock was very comfortable and I miss mine just talking about it.
The best rifle for the money, until recently, is arguably the Marauder but I would say it’s the Air Arms S410. The Marauder is a great price at $399 at Airgunsofarizona.com but I think the AA S410 is a much better air rifle for $1000 and many would say it is the best priced quality and super accurate air rifle for the money. It’s got a great wooden stock, smooth and stout side lever action, and it’s proven in the accuracy department. It is also extremely well built.
There is also the other one I told you about but it’s not advertised yet. There may be a new winner in the affordable air rifle battle. 😉
from all the reports I have seen the Royale rates higher in accuracy
compared to the Monsoon.
The Airwolf, Royale, and Edgun all get very high marks for accuracy
from their users. A head to head comparison is not going to tell you too much, they all shoot as accurate as you can. The Daystate may hold a
very slight edge, and the Daystate and Royale will be more accurate the
longer the range due to the higher fpe they shoot.
As far as quiet, the Royale I shot was not. The factory mod did reduce
the report, but I was disappointed at how loud it still was. Edgun will
be the quietest out of the box.
You can get a Monsoon for $1600 with pump. Not that I particularly need the pump, but it seems like a deal. Is the Royale more accurate than the Monsoon?
Accuracy for the most part, but the quieter and the more fpe the better. I have an AH shroud. I’m looking for a big leap in accuracy. I want something that’ll be significantly better than the Condor, which frankly I’m pretty impressed with.
I haven’t seen any head-to-head comparisons between the Royale and MCT. The Edgun gets glowing reviews, but I haven’t seen any direct comparisons to anything, frankly.
Kinda depends on what specifics you value most. All of them are fine guns.
The Condor probably will need the most work to get it shooting to it’s full
potential and defiantly needs to be quieted down.
What sold me on the EdGun??? Shoots fantastic out of the box. High
quality fit and finish. Compact, Light, 50+ shots on a fill, very accurate,
quiet, hits hard… 32fpe I think.
Would like it better if it were a multi shot, but I find it easy to reload so
single shot is not an issue.

I too have heard great things about the new FX smooth twist barrel. I’ll be trying one soon. 😀
