B40 gets new barrel
my .22 B40 has never shot real well….so i had a .177 barrel lying around…so i decided to stuff that in there….
first i had to remove the brown goob that chinamen tend to put on everything as a rust protector…..about 100 pullthroughs later and it was ready to be mounted
everything has to come appart of course but it is easy
tiny bit of smoke from the first couple of shots….but then it settled down
some beeman pellets that just happened to be the first tin i grabbed…50 shots later and it was grouping about 2″ at 20 yards…..i went searching for a other .177 pellets and found a tin of JSB
that moved the groups 5-6″ to the left and down….zeroing again, took considerable amount of pellets….either its the chinese BAM scope or my crappy shooting skills with a springer…hmm lets blame the gear LOL
finally of a sandbag infront of the trigger guard and resting the front on my hand….it started to shoot pellets into ½” groups
i havent chronied it yet, but it was doing 15-16 fpe in .22 so im guessing 12-14 fpe in .177, plenty flat shooting as far as i can judge….
its an underlever gun and quite heavy i think…..wish there was a cheap source of carbon for the cocking arm and replacement of the shroud to lighten the front….the stock im gonna mill so it will resemble a falcon rifle of sorts some day in the future
yes its been a good weekend…rc’ing, shooting, tinkering, wife taking care of the parasite…..good weekend
