Q:

Silencer question

Hi guys

This may apply mainly to guys in the uk as I know the states have different rules on silencers but then again it may not?
I want to thread the end of my barrel for a silencer but I don’t know whether there is a standard thread size for the silencers? for some reason 1/2 UNF rings a bell but then again I could be wrong?

Thanks

Over here, where silencers are common,, 1/2 is the standard, unless you are getting a product specific model.

Thanks buddy, also Im a traning engineer so im still learning and whenever we deal with threads we refur to them by M11 (11 for example)
do you know what the translation of 1/2 UNF would be of this?
Thanks

Imperial is just that. Metric is metric. There is no straight foward match….

I’m surprised but 1/2″ UNF is the standard on airguns…. I’d have thought the EU would have banned that “archaic” unit and made you guys use some metric variation by now.

Might get thrown a curve ball and it be a male thread on the silencer…. but you wont go wrong by just getting a 1/2 UNF male on barrel – if you need anything else in the future you’ll find an adapter for it easily rather than getting an “odd” thread and trying to get an adapter to convert to 1/2 UNF.

Find the silencer you want and what it is threaded.

Use that thread on your barrel.

Yes joe, you are correct 😀
