Q:

Who would be interested in seeing a handpump cleaned and…

resealed? I am going to rebuild mine soon and if you guys are interested I can take pictures and explain step by step how to do it. If you are stuck with a handpump and don’t want to send it back to the manufacturer rebuilding one is easy and cheap.

WARNING: Do not continue if your name is Yellow Ninja!!!

I repaired mine and took a bunch of pictures of each step. I will post a write up with detailed instructions soon.

Well ok – proceed.. but take special steps to ensure I dont accidentally read it….

Well crap. I was looking forward to it. 🙁 🙁

Freaking YN, just has to go ruin everything. 😆 😛 😉

The Hill pump says to bleed the pressure off while letting the pump cool after I think 40 strokes but with the Dry-pack you don’t have to. So, I’m thinking the culprit that causes failures is moisture interfering with the proper lubrication of the o-rings.

Yeah this one lasted longer than I thought. I use silicone grease for a lube. Some say it is a special kind of grease that is not easy to find but my pump has lasted just as long or longer when using silicone grease instead of what the factory uses.

Ok my pump just went out on me

I was wondering what was taking so long… 😆

I was thinking about this topic as I was doing some pumping yesterday. Which lube is best to not destroy the o-rings…? I found if I don’t bleed between pumpings and the pump handle stays up exposing the metal with the lube the whole contraption is harder to pump because the lube dries out or something. It was sticky and if I bled the chamber and let the handle go down it wasn’t sticky after I let the pump cool…

Ok my pump just went out on me so I will start making a report for repairing it. It might be a week or two because I have some things I need to do this week.

we could send our pumps to you and then watch the video. just kidding, good idea.

Informative data like this will always be welcome as it will benefit so many.

Thanks for taking the time to put the tutorial together.

Definitely. I just bought one and can only get it up to 2500 psi.

Yes!

Ok I’ll do that. My pump feels like it’s getting ready to go but sometimes it has lasted 20 or 30 fills after it starts acting weird and sometimes only 1 or 2 fills.
