Q:

FPE with 18" & 20" .25 barrel

I recently got a Talon SS with a 12″ .22 barrel and the TT valve & hammer. I like the shortness, but will eventually want more power, too. My question is, what kind of FPE would I get with this rifle and 31 grain Kodiaks if I ordered a 18″ .25 barrel? What kind of FPE would this rifle develop with a custom size like a 20″ .25 barrel and the same pellet?

Get er done!

Maw,
Yeah, I’d look into laying an ambush along a pig trail in the jungle and see if I could plug one in the ear. This TSS is accurate enough to do so, and with a .25 I’d have the power. Pigs out here aren’t huge like in Texas and Florida—100 to 150 pounds is a nice size out here. I was fly fishing for bass with my brother a couple of weeks ago up in the mountains and we came across a herd of ’em, 4 or 5 adults and lots of piglets, at high noon, too. Didn’t have a weapon, though, so I wound up throwing a stick at a sow. She squealed and ran off.

Hell man you can go kill some pigs with that bad boy.

Jeff,
Whoa—50 fpe sounds great! That would kick butt on these wild roosters out here in Hawaii. I’d love to see photos of your SS with the 20″ .25 barrel, both with and without the shroud in place. Maybe you could let us know the over-all length with shroud and how quiet it is. Norgeiron

Upgrade to a 2nd. Gen Condor valve and you can get great power. Here a link to my gun-

I have a 20 inch .25 barrel on my Talon SS and it is getting up to 50+ ft lbs with kodiaks. This is also with a Talon valve modded for power. I can still get in the low 40 ft lbs with a standard valve though.
