Q:

Pellet choice… Low Power SS HPA

Was testing the two “best liked” pellets in a 5mm Talon SS, and came up even.

Rifle was running at a mild 1250Psi from a little 133CI HPA tank, set low to give about 13 – 13.5 foot pounds (call it 650fps with 14.3gr.) for 50 consistent shots. Had recently converted it back to co2, but decided to keep feeding it HPA for the time being.

Tie score at 20yards (10 shot groups):

Tie score (or so close it may as well be a tie) at 40yards. The odd 7-shots per group was simply because I ran out of JSB’s and didn’t want to go back to get another tin.

Nice shooting day… 71F, little wind, and most of the shooting course was well shielded from what little wind there was.

The Benjamin Cylindrical pellets are available locally for $10.95 (and sometimes marked down to $9.95 because the stock guy can’t tell them from the .22’s). Think I won’t order more 5mm JSB’s for this rifle.

The fit is different. JSB’s fit tight and are heavily engraved on firing. The Benjamin Cylindricals are looser, still engraved head and skirt, but much easier (may be too easy) to load.

With the scope just at 3.3” above the bore, the sight-in looks like this (with either pellet…not enough difference to worry about):

10 yds -.9
20 yds +.6
30 yds +1
40 yds +.4

Didn’t test farther than 40 yards, as that’s probably enough distance for a 13.3 foot pound rifle.

Nice shooting! Those are some good groups for any power level.
