Q:

Setting questions?

I have a condor with a 24 inch barrel and tophat set at .060 and pw of 9 i charge to about 190 bar and shoot 2 shots into the ground and then shoot my target and it seems like the first 2 shots are always all over the place. Im using 21 grain barracudas. Are they going to fast I will try a lower power setting but i have before and it seemed like the took to long to hit the target at 50 yards i could hear a delay between the shot and the target now i cant so there hauling ass so is it possible there going to fast?

a little late… but i had this problem before… what i did to solve it was raised the power wheel up… could just be my gun prob…

Thanks for the info guys. Just starting to get her tuned in.

2500Psi. P.W. 6 to 10 and top hat .065 to .070 should have you shooting 21.1Gr Kods at 1K. out of a 24″ barrel.

Wot Lurker said, 2600 fill and pw at about 4 😀

Speaking of fill pressure… could you guys share some info about how over filling effects performance, and maybe suggest how to find that magic number w/o a cronny (scuba tank is on my next buy list then a cronny).

Thanks,

Hi, I believe it’s the combination of fill pressure and hammer force (Power Wheel) that cause a condition of more air to be released than is necessary to get the pellet out the end of the barrel. To much air behind the pellet is wasteful and it is expanding much faster than the pellet is moving as it exits the barrel. The extra higher speed air blows around the pellet and as is proven by chrony tests, slows down the pellet. It may also cause some re-direction of the pellet path.
So, as you can see, too much air may be worse than less than optimum air pressure/volume

My take on your priorities is that you will be wasting more shots faster using a scuba refill while not having the optimum pressure and power wheel settings.

You are probably not hearing the target strike because you are hearing a much louder crack of your pellets going super sonic. Super sonic is also known for causing erratic shot groups .

IMO your power wheel is set way to high and no doubt makes it harder to cock also. With a stock Condor I would suggest somewhere around 2500-2600 fill pressure and the Power w
Wheel 4 or less.

well, like was already said, and from my personal experience, the chrony should be THE VERY NEXT THING YOU BUY !! Find out how the gun is using all that air, and you’ll be able to dial it right in to that “sweet spot”..get it dialed in and you might discover that you don’t even need a scuba tank……cause you won’t be wasting all that air anymore 😆 😆 😆 Seriously, from the first time I used mine, I wondered how the hell I ever expected to “get it right” without it…You can get one (Shooting Chrony-alpha model) delivered to your front door (in lower 48 US) for under $100.00..It’s an investment that you will never regret having made…

Yep, Yep. 😉

Condor Bob do what Bonestock said I think you will do better right now you are wasting air that is why you are not getting more shots per fill

Next time you’re about to buy another gun STOP. Take that money and get a chrony. It really is a must have if you want to get things dialed it. Try filling to 2450 and turn your pw to the lowest setting. My .22 Condor was spitting out 21gr Baraccudas at 980fps with 30+ shots before any drop in poi with that set up. Just try it.

and poi is droping after ten shots.
