I put my Center Point on the bird this afternoon and am getting super groups at 50 yards, but it’s so low I have to lay my head sideways to see thru it 🙂
I googled 30mm high rise mounts and all I saw was some cheap looking things from NCstar.
I figured the tri rail would raise my existing mounts/scope up to where I could actually shoot without breaking my neck 🙂
VERY IMPRESSED SO FAR WITH THIS MONSTER !!
I went to Wally World and picked up some Weaver 30mm X-tra high mounts for about $10.00 and they work great. Now these are Weaver mounts, not 3/8″, but there are adapters.
They look good and are solid aluminum with four hex screws per mount.
Hoot
It can drop the db BY 30 db. Not to 30 db! 😆 😉
BLK do some decent double strap high mounts.
Who makes a 30mm mount that is high enough ?

Better to mount your scope direct to the rifle rail. One less part to put your scope out of whack….
Got the Bird Bird from Tony today and one word !
WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW
The shroud is dead nuts quiet !
I mean not a whisper !!!!!
32 grain Eun Jins are coming out around 960 fps
Wicked Power Here !!!
Waiting for the tri rail scope base to come in and start some serious
accuracy testing
First I will quote what I have read elsewhere in that measuring Db on
a meter can be very subjective. Different sounds register differently
and readings can differ every time.
The TT and Airhog shrouds as well as some of the ones made here by
members of this Forum are very effective. Most important is the length
of the shroud. I think the Airhog is quite long. I was told 7 1/2 inches
is the minimum for effectiveness. So if you go about 10″ which I think
is one of the Airhogs I have seen it will be pretty effective. Don’t have a
Condor so maybe others will chime in on the actual levels.
I have had a Talon Tunes shroud and it was very effective. Nothing
really different in the design or materials from most others you will
find for sell.
I would put my TT shrouded Talon SS about on the level of the Marauder,
with the Condor putting out much more power I don’t see how it could be
much quieter than that.
I about fell out when I read this post !
I was the one that made the “Wanna Make It Even Quieter” post on the Marauder forum.
The melamine foam trick does work.
Someone with a db meter tested it before and after the mod and there was a 4 db drop.
Doesn’t sound like much but you can definitely tell the difference.
Not that is was that loud to begin with…just wanted to toy around and see how quiet I could really get it 🙂
Now the big question, can the Condor really be toned down with the Tony’s Tune moderator or the Airhog shroud.
I called Airhog and they told me with their shroud for the Condor it brings it down to about 30 db.
Is someone pulling my leg, because the Marauder at 78 db is whisper quiet. 30 db from the Condor would be near totally silent.
I love the 22 cal Marauder, but am looking for a bit more power and the Condor was the rifle that came up every time I searched.
I would love to hear from anyone that has some experience with the Condor and a moderator to weigh in here please.
I have neighbors that are a might sensitive to the guns going off and need to keep things toned down, but still would like to have the kind of power the Condor is getting with the big Eun Jin pellets.
Can it really be toned down that quiet with a shroud/moderator even set at full power.
Does anyone know of anyone that has a newer model Condor they would like to sell or trade for.
I have a fully tricked out 22 cal Gamo Whisper that went into the closet after I got the Marauder and a vintage Beeman R10 177 that still screams them Crosman Premiers down range !
I was thinking of offering them both up for trade.
Thanks
RB
I am not sure it will get much quieter.
My stock 22cal. Marauder is way quieter than my shrouded Talon SS and quieter than my shrouded Condor was.
Both the Talon ss and Condor had vented bushings to go along with the shrouds but the Marauder is still quieter.
here’s a nice write up on toning it down a bit more
http://www.marauderairrifle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=305&hilit=mr+clean
applicable to the Talon SS as well
Yeah from what I have heard they are very quiet out of the box. Also the ping is only heard by the shooter.
Have you shot the Marauder?
They are VERY quiet out of the box. I can’t see needing to improve
the sound level unless you are going to do some other mods that
would necessitate it. Only thing a stock one need is a depinger.
edited.. because op edited 😛

as far as the marauder being quiet it all depends where you shoot it. when i shoot it at our ranch the thing sounds quiet but when i shoot it in my back yard its to loud for comfort. i would say the talon ss is a little quieter than the marauder stock. now as far as putting a shroud on the talon ss and it still being louder than the marauder i dont know about that!!! i have both a talon ss and a condor with TT shrouds and their far quieter than the marauder no lie. when people say this i think its because their rifles are not fully modded like mine but even then once you put a shroud on them and no other mods i still say their quieter than the marauder
