Q:

Need help understanding a Regulators output setting…

Hello All,

Looking into a regulator for my S410 Xtra FAC .22cal and I was asked “Please let us know which preset output pressure you want;110,115,120,130,140, or 150 bar. (they are adjustable, but preset at your preferred output pressure so you have a starting point)” I don’t really understand this part.

I was told “output pressure about 135-140 bar= about 30 fpe” when using JSB 16gr pellets.

Right now my power curve (non-regulated) for my S410 Xtra using 16 gr pellets are as followed:
– Start fill is 2800psi
– Shots 01-10 avg. 899fps
– Shots 11-20 avg. 923fps
– Shots 21-30 avg. 918fps
– Shots 31-40 avg. 889fps
– Average FPE over 40 shots is 29 ft/lbs
– End fill is 1750psi

Can you guys help me understand the output pressure and does the preset of around 140BAR a good starting point or should I go higher or lower?

Thanks everyone!

….ok…. I just installed one of Audrius regs in my S400 and got great results.

Yes I beleive that is who makes the reg. E-mailing Vincent from the Yellow Forum.

Thanks for the info.

….ok…. I just installed one of Audrius regs in my S400 and got great results. I opted to have mine set to 12.5fpe for .177. I’m getting 115 shots with it in my MPR FT.

What you want to do is this…. shoot a string. your velocity climb a bit, level off… then you’ll get x number of shots in that ‘sweet spot’…. then velocity will start to decline. What you want to do to get the most out of your reg is to find the point where that your velocity starts to decline and take note of that number…. then refill, shoot until you reach that shot, and check your pressure.

For example… I’ll use an abbreviated string…

746
757
770
800
802
805
804
808
805
804
801<<
785
760
743

Your gun gets to around 800 for a given number of shots…..you want to use the LOWEST output pressure you can to maximize air usage so you will then refill your gun, and shoot 11 shots (in the example above) and then find your pressure. You ‘could’ just find your highest velocity, or you could give any pressure in your sweet spot, but that wont be maximizing efficiency, which is what a regulator is all about.

Best way to do it would be to shoot a string, when you shoot your highest fps, take a reading of your tank pressure and set the reg to that
