Redback Weapon System by Metal Storm is a lightweight multi barrel 40mm electronic remotely operated weapon.

Wow 40mm, that a large roud!

The worse part about electronics in a gun is that it will be outdated very quick.

Crosman made the first airgun with an electronic trigger back in the 80’s. And do you think anyone wants to work on that, including crosman?

Dozens of electronic paintball gun have come and gone and many remain with no support even from the companies that made them. They have move on and left the old technology behind.

I have 2 electronic paintball guns that were the best in their days and cost a grand each. Now they are worth a couple hundred bucks or used as paper weights.

Haha. Your computer isn’t mechanical?

Sure I’ll use electronics. I have a tv, computer, stereo, etc. But can I work on much any of that? No. I can work on my guns though, and I like that. If my gun was electrical I couldn’t work on it either. So I want my firearms to be strictly mechanical.

quote Mr-lama:

I like things to be mechanical, electronic stuff is not for me.

And you typed this on a mechanical computer? Really?
Some day we may be able to rely on electronics…. Tasers seem to work
really well for the cops… You could always carry a mechanical backup like
they do…

I think it will be a while before anyone is actually carrying them around.

I personally don’t want anything electronic in my guns. If one of mine right now malfunctioned, or something broke, I would have no problem knowing what went wrong and what part needs fixing or replacing, and I could do it myself in just a couple of minutes. But something like that, if I pull the trigger and it doesn’t go off, I would have no idea where to even begin to look. I like things to be mechanical, electronic stuff is not for me.

They also make a pistol… If fires 3 rounds that sound like one…..

It’s made by a company named Metal Storm out of Australia. They really have some cool stuff. Including grenade launchers based on the same caseless, tube-loaded, electronically-fired ammunition.

At 1M RPM the bullets are 3ms apart. WOW.

Jim

What is really amazing is it uses caseless rounds, staked one on top the next. No case, powder-bullet-powder-bullet, using electronically ignited powder. No moving parts in the action?

I saw this gun on TV about 2 years ago.

Does anyone know the real name of this gun…?
