Q:

Condor, first impressions.

My Condor and AirForce pump arrived this morning. While I waited the past week I spent a lot of time reading reviews, forum, etc. and to be honest I was a bit on edge about the quality of the Air force pump, how loud it was going to be, top hat adjustment, and if I would be able to adjust it down enough to keep my 14.3 JSB’s 1000ish fps.
First off the Air force pump. I was surprised at the heft and build quality. If it will live up to my first impressions I will have to wait and see. I am glad I got that initial tank fill up out of the way. The second time was much easier. I am also glad I already put in a order for a air Hog carbon tank
😉
Now to the Condor. I knew it was going to be a lighter rifle and I thought pretty long with the 24″ barrel. I was surprised at how light it felt in the hands. The length isn’t too bad either. So far thumbs up.
I stole a Leupold VX-II 3-9×40 EFR off my TX200 Mk III and set up my chronograph. I like the size of this scope on the svelte Condor.
I started out with the power wheel set down low as possible but half a turn up so as not to be bottomed out on low. At the first shot I wondered if the pellet even left the barrel. The chronograph showed 825 fps and the next three shots were right around there.
I turned the power wheel up a full turn and was at 850ish. Cranking it up to 4 has me right at 1040ish and the sound is not too bad.
I cranked the power wheel all the way up once and then it was loud with a velocity of 1176 fps.
I turned it back down to 4 and will try it out there for a while.
I shot 27 shots through the chronograph and the tank was at 2500 psi when I refilled and velocity was still 1050.
Haven’t sighted it in yet but am going to do so now despite it being pretty windy and some new snow on the ground.
More later.

Drop the last 10 shots, call it a 20 string and its pretty tight. The more shots you go for, the higher the spread becomes. Its the nature of these un-regged guns…

What would you do to better that? Top hat adjustment?

Barracuda strings looks pretty good but has a pretty big spread.

Some of the heavier pellets I ordered finally showed up and the rifle shoots them much more accurately than any of the 14 grainers I was using.
I received some H&N Baracuda Match,21.14 grs. and Eunjins’ 28.5 grs.
Having my power wheel set at 6 out of twelve and starting at just shy of 3000 PSI a twenty shot string with the Eunjin’s looked like this.

PSI@#2150. Pretty good I thought considering the Condor hasn’t the most refined metering system.
The Baracuda’s 30 shot string.

2000PSI ending pressure

You will probably find that if you top off the tank too much that the first few shots are lower velocity. When you hit the sweet spot they go up, then sooner or later start dropping off. I filled mine shot it over chrono and watched the numbers. When they first jumped I checked the pressure by hooking it to the scuba tank and seeing where I was at. Probably can do the same with the pump. If its 2600 psi only fill to 2600 psi next time. Then watch to see how long it takes for the numbers to drop drasticly . If its 32 shots then you know to fill to 2600 psi and top off after 32 shots. This is only approximate numbers everyones mileage will vary! 😆 after I went through all this I adjusted my tophat and started over! lamo

Congrats and Welcome!!!

It is blowing out pretty hard that accuracy testing is out. I had to wirgh down the chronograph’s tripod legs pretty good to keep it from blowing over and put a fair amount of rocks in the box I was using for a sight in target.
The first shot was 980 then it climbed over the next 3 shots to the 1050 +/- a bit. I was shooting at 35 yards and though it was very windy I definitely got an impression that this thing will shoot. My hands were getting pretty cold and I came in after 30 shots. Took another 500 psi to get back to 3000.

it may just be my gun but the cp’s would shoot well that high for me
if i dropped down to low 900’s it was nice with them but once i near the 1000 mark they started to open up on the groups

Sounds like you are off to a good start.

Welcome 😀
