9mm lothar walther in a condor
Hello guys. Anybody of the members of the forum has a Lothar Walther 9mm barrel in a condor?
Is this possible?
HOw many changes (hammer, spring, valve) are neccessary?
Does any of the members do thsi job?

Yes it is true 22lr is a great killer, I have killed a truck load of deer with a silenced ruger pistol. Hillside salmon I believe was the term at the time. I have also killed a lot of deer and elk with black powder loads with 44 and 45’s.
With the 22 I always went for chest shots, hoping to get the heart or rupture a vessel in the lungs, head shots were an iffy thing most of the time with a 22. they glance a lot and you have to brain them, which in the field is not always easy. I know a lot of people may disagree about the headshots, maybe they worked for them, but I have not seen any of their gut piles.
I always had a Austrailian shepard dog with me who would follow up, the 22 in the chest would not always exit and as a result the blood trail was not always there. But my dog would find them, always!
Was it ethical, shit no, wasn’t legal either, it was just backstrap and ground meat on the table to feed a bunch of kids.
Having said that I have also killed a lot of cattle as a kid with a 22lr and head shots, we used to make an imaginary x from horn to eye and shoot for the center, then follow up with a quick cut throat, for a lot of the time it merely stunned them. But your talking very close range, something that with wild game does not happen all the time.
Can’t say I would recomend the 22 especially if the game warden is around.
I have never been an archer, but I hosted a lot of them at my place during the season. I plan on changing that soon, the advantage of the arrow is that it keeps killing long after the shot is placed, when the animal runs with that shaft in it, it cuts a lot of blood vessels and just simply ruins the hydrolics.
Of course all this depends on the arrow not passing thru. With deer it may pass thru, with elk it usually keeps ripping as they run off.
Both weapons can wound a lot of animals, but any hunter worth his salt should be able to follow a blood trail.
I have killed a lot of deer with the 429421 and 10 grains of Unique in the 44 special, with a shoulder shot to break bone and anchor them, it worked fine, a little light for elk, I prefered the 320’s in a mag case on the elk.
But mostly on elk I used a 300 mag with 180 Nosler partion bullets. That and a 340 Weatherby or 338 winchester with the same Nosler but at 210 or 250, that really put them down.
I also mainly shot cows instead of bulls, altho I have killed about 10 or 12 bulls. They don’t taste nearly as good as a yearling cow or a calf, and again your feeding that to kids. Bulls taste like you pissed on them, the bigger the bull the badder the taste. Or at least with the Rocky Mountain elk, I never shot or ate a Roosevelt.
With archery equipment if you want a really big bull, that is the way to go, they are in rut then and will do some dumb shit.

I don’t know Roach… Bows of all sorts kill a bunch of animals every year but they are also legal and have dedicated seasons in most places here. I’ve heard many times that .22s have killed more deer than anything else and I believe it because years ago the economics just favored the .22 for those who needed to hunt just to supplement the family diet.
Nowadays, it seems that everyone needs a weatherby to kill a pest…. Now where’s that link to the article about how everything has become harder to kill over the years?
If your looking to just punch larger holes in paper, a 9mm conversion will work just fine. It will be big and awkward.
If your looking for true killing power on larger animals, two legged or four, then the tagdagger conversion is the easiest way to go. You can reload it just as fast, and a broadhead will kill faster than a round ball at the velocities you will achieve.
Compound bows kill thousands of deer and elk sized quarry every year, a 9mm ball fired from a Navy Colt at a 75 yard target, and in truth that is what your looking at, is not a powerful performer.
Shoot an animal badly with a ball and it suffers for days, do the same with a broadhead and it bleeds out in minutes.

You may be able to get Blod to manufacture the “kit” if he has the time and find someone here willing to do the final assembly for you on this side of the pond but I fear thats as close as you will come.
Just not many folks building Big Bore bits out there outside of Blod
pleanty of guys here though that might be willing to change out the stock valve from your tank for a small consideration.

if you are asking whether there is someone out there that you can either send your rifle to for conversion or will sell you a rifle already converted I thik the answer is a great big no

Is there anyone that does a complete 9mm modification? I am not exactly into mod,s. I adjusted top hat changed to vented front bushing and some minor stuff but would be chicken to take on a valve change and that stuff!
well Pabs with a lightly modded Condor valve the bolts run out at just about 400FPS. I figure with tweeking and the Big Bore Blod valve I should be able to approach 500FPS with any luck.
Dedicating a TalonSS frame to this rig. Mounting a Holographic sight on the front lower rail…tried both my EOTECH & Kobra, right now leaning toward the Kobra. The lower front rail plants the screen right above the taller rear rail, just perfect position for me and makes for fast acquisition. The longer upper rail on the Condor moves the screen just a bit too far out for my tastes.
Own a good vrariety of Crosbows…a old self cocker Barnett Commando with a 220# prod as well as several high end european target Xbows. Sweetest is my Swiss Wacker, if I do my part it with chew the X ring up badly indeed, just not a great deal of power behind it. This one wont be very practical…mostly a toy to destroy bolts with!
As I initially PM’d ya I will always go to the source rather than…well you know…
No worries about technical aspects escaping from me…trade secrets, someone wants a similar unit they need to do as I did and deal with the creator or count on spending some time experimenting.
As far as getting your arse bit…I have a pair of the Selph knock offs that have yet to fail on me…{knock on wood, cross my fingers and all that} and I doubt anyone holds you responsible for the shortcommings in anothers work.
Be interesting to see how fast the bolts will blast out of Tads arrow conversion once I sort the breech/top hat mods. Already anticipate the liklihood on needing to go to alloy stock on the bolts and silver soldering in the inserts…LOL

ps; if any one asks you for the dims’ of these id prefere you didn’t give them to them. I gave the dims away for the normal valve and it came back n bit my arse.
This big bore is the only one i do now and would like to keep in control of it.

the pair O’ valves in the pic Blod posted I believe are the ones he fashioned up for my own 9mm conversion. I went with a 9mm Career barrel with a custom hammer, spring and side cocker breech. Bits just came in today but still need to order the ETACs for my 53ci JDS tanks.
Intend on trying the second valve with my new Tadagger Arrow conversion but need to modify the TalonSS breech and/or top hat set up.
Figure I should be able to really get those bolts singing with the Big Bore Blod valve!
I had a Blodnob Bigbore valve, and tried to mate it to my .25. Damn near blew my rig apart with the power!! 😯
Would work a treat on a 9mm, too big for a .25 …..
where can I buy these valves? Can you explain if I can discard the “old” condor valve and put the “new” valve without any problem?
