Q:

Another happy EDgun owner.

After 3 months of waiting my Matador finally arrived today… now I know why everyone who owns one loves it!

The gun is simply fantastic. It balances great, it’s nice and short, the trigger feels much better than I was expecting given the linkage rod needed in a bullpup design (quite good actually!), and the accuracy is amazing. I used medium Burris Signature Z rings and used the +/- .010″ offset inserts to cant the scope (Bushnell Elite 4200 3-12 x 42mm first focal plane mildot, mil knobs.)

After zeroing the scope I shot from prone and proceeded to put 10 18.1 gr JSB’s into the same ragged hole at 40 yards (which is the farthest I can shoot in my backyard.) Hopefully this weekend I can test it at 75 and 100 yards.

I was expecting a somewhat uncomfortable cheekweld having to lay the side of my face on the receiver but it’s actually quite comfortable. It’s quick to shoulder and “get in the scope” without having to move my head around to find the right eye alignment and eye relief.

While not as quiet as my current PCP (18″ Tony tuned Talon with one of his shrouds) it’s still pretty quiet. Tony’s shroud has a lot more internal volume, I’m very impressed with the noise level of the EDgun given the much smaller shroud.

When I get home from work tomorrow I’m going to chronograph it so I can work up my dope chart and do a shot count from 200 bar down to when it falls off the regulator.

Thanks to Ed for making such an awesome piece and Tony for bringing them to the states!

Here’s a pic of the new EDgun next to my Tony tuned 18″ Talon SS… and while the Talon is a good rifle it will probably appear on the classifieds here shortly.

Plans for the near future is to follow Varminter’s example and have the stock spray-on bedlined…

Congrats Kiba… It will impress you every time you take it out for a long
time…

Congrats!!! Man, EVERYONE who gets or shoots the EdGun loves it.
I am not easily impressed. I have even sent guns like the AA s410c
and Royale back because they did not live up to my expectations.
The Edgun lives up to all the hype!
Having your cheek rest on the receiver is not uncomfortable at all.
It feels a little different the first few shots, then just feels like it should,
and you don’t notice it at all.
I have never felt the air coming out of the vent holes as I shoot, but do
see the lead dust after wards.

how close is your ear to the bolt? do you get a puff of air or blast of noise being that close to the breech?

Mike

My cheekbone sits almost directly over the loading “notch” in the receiver and my ear is back around the end of the bolt handle. The bolt is double o-ringed into the breech and I don’t feel or hear any air escaping when fired. There are several small holes drilled radially around the rear of the shroud and you do feel a slight “puff” of air from those vent holes on your support hand & wrist when fired.

Your retort has earned my approval and I hereby lift the “scarlet letter” from your lapel 😆

Someone will get a real nice rifle, no doubt.

I really want one of those Edguns…but I would need to sell off some of my “stable”. Everytime I go to my safe to see which one or two I can let go…I end up locking them all back up again. Just can’t seem to part with any right now.

Enjoy that fine piece of craftsmanship! 😉

That’s a shame I can live with. 😀

Don’t get me wrong, the Talon is my very first “real” air rifle (previous POS plastic Crosman’s really don’t count in my eyes.) It has a very unique modular design that allows all sorts of configurations and customization– being able to change barrels in only a couple minutes is really neat. Tony’s shroud is REALLY quiet, and his trigger job and all his other mods he did to my rifle are very cool. It’s accurate and after playing with hammer spring pre-load and fill levels I finally have a nice bell curve between 800 to 835 fps with 21gr Baracuda’s for 32-33 shots. All that being said, the EDgun is more accurate, gets more shots at the same energy with a lower SD and ES than the Talon, and it’s over 20″ shorter. I do a lot of pigeon control for a friend with a 100 acre equipment storage yard and getting the Talon in and out of the window of the pickup is a little cumbersome.

That being said I can’t see the Talon getting much use now that I have the EDgun and I’d rather it go to someone who will use it and enjoy it rather than it sit around my house and gather dust. Besides, it will put some money in my pocket that I can put towards a compressor, a 4500 psi tank, or possibly a 6000psi K-cylinder nitrogen tank rental and regulator setup.
