Q:

Preventing frame chipping around the breech area…

I had noticed that on some of these rifles the frame where the bolt closes starts to chip away, most likely from recoil… This happens rather fast too with new guns.. Any suggestion how to prevent it?

Yup.

Yeah I get lower velocity and less consistancy if I leave it in the vertical position.

ir i leave mine in the vertical position i see a drop in fps on my chrony

I just make a point of keeping the breech knob in the vertical position rather than dropping it right or left. The wear seems to occur when you push the breech forward from the rest position. Mine has never moved when fired. If it’s straight up and you push it straight forward then you’ll minimize contact.

Once its compacted the ali’ a tiny bit, it doesn’t seem to get any worse..

If you are talking about where the bolt hits the frame then just make sure you have the plastic washer around the bolt threads. That little sucker likes to come off and then the threads will ding up the frame.

thanks for the tip Adam…

Last time I got those bushings from AF they sent me metal ones. 😡 I made a few of my own out of nylon spacers I got from Lowes.

I see 😀 then it happens with a lot of them…

I know it is not a big deal but if this happens after a few shots where the frame of the gun starts to chip away I just wonder how it will be over time… and is there any way to prevent this from happening… Heaving the Condor and not shooting it is very tough 😆

My impression on these rifles is positive.. In fact I like them… but I also understand why some folks stay away from them… Enormous potential in these guns… it is just there is a lot of work Air Force has left out for us ” to do it yourself”

Don’t shoot? Only kidding. I have quite a few hundreds of shots through mine now. The area you are talking is very small and not worth consideration in my opinion.
Things that stay looking new are seldom used or just taken out to be admired. Nice to buy those types used and then scratch em up.
