Mechanically challenged ETAC instalation
I just picked up my ETAC from the postoffice 85 minutes ago. I have a vice and a drawer of tools that I inherited from my father years ago.
I am not good with anything that involves an end wrench.
But I am not to shabby when it comes to gun repair. I was in the middle of doing my everyother day 700 pushups, and between the ten minutes that I give myself between reps, I installed that ETAC.
No shit folks, I took the valve off with the tool I got from Jim and installed the etac in ten minutes.
I rotated thae collar on the gun and the worst part was getting the grip screw lined up.
This product is incredable, as I write this the tank is full, I checked for leaks and I am ready to go.
I can see thru that scope like never before.
This is the Amenerican do anything capitalism at work/

The problem with the grip is due to the fact that once you loosen the screw holding the threaded bottle collar holder and rotate that unit to line up the ETAC, the set screw is no longer lined up with the recess that is drilled in the collar for it. The grip screw nut will not rotate to the propper angle to accept the grip screw then.
How I fixed the grip screw problem, was to relieve the top of the round nut it screws into with the edge of a flat bastard file. I first chucked it up in my vice, padding it so it would not mar, then took a few passes with the edge of the file.
I did this sideways on the nut, over the threaded hole, so it would not show once in the frame.
Then the grip screw nut could clear the set screw on the collar and align properly.
I am sorry if I have not used the propper names for these parts, but I hope this is clear.
It is an easy fix, maybe I should have used bluelocktite on the set screw to hold it in place, and I will if it ever comes loose.
It took less time to do this than describing it.
I had worried about installing the ETAC because I heard all the horror stories about getting that valve off the tank, but with the wrench I purchased from you it is easy.

The grip bolt nut is a bitch for sure…anyone have any tips or tricks on that one?
