Q:

nikko 10×50 – 60 night eater

anyone have this scope? would like to use this for field target.

how is it in respect to glass and parellax focus? do targets snap into focus well at higher mag? does it retain zero? etc etc.

thanx in advance, Ken

They tend to wash out (looks like your looking thru Ivory soap water), at any higher mag. and in anything but near perfect lighting. they also have a BAD problem when trying to see a target in the direction of the setting sun. A lot of washout. 🙁 A Long shade is a must. 😉

would like to use the magnification as a range finding tool for field target.

the higher the magnification the better the range finding as it will be more susceptible to parellax adjustment(more precise). the easier it is to tell if it is forty six yds or fifty yds etc etc.

then i can dial it down to ten or twelve x for the shot.

Never used the one in question but had a few Nikko Stirling scopes and found them all to be perfectly usable and good value scopes. Though the greater the magnifications the greater you will notice any quality issues. So there bigger scopes may be totally different as I tend to shoot at no more than 10x. Just out of interest what are you shooting to necessitate such a big scope?
