Daystate Huntsman Classic
I’ve been researching quite a bit lately on the topic of a moderately powered and fairly lightweight PCP.
I love my Condor but I want something else a bit more refined and moderate to tag team along side it.
For better or worse I put an order in with with AOA for a Daystate Huntsman Classic. Hope it lives up to the Daystate reputation as this is the most I ever paid for a gun of any type.
I really wanted a .22 but they were out only having .177, .20, and .25 on hand. I have always been intrigued by the .20 so ordered one in that caliber.
They also have a Daystate/Hawk promotion running where you get a Hawk Eclipse 30 mm in 4-16×50 either 6-24×50.
They were all out of the 4-16’s so I went with the 6-24×50. They are going to mount it and sight it in as well.
It is more scope than I want on what appears to be a svelte rifle so I likely will swap it onto one of my LR varmint powder burners that wears a Leupold 30mm LR/T 3.5-10×40 with mil-dot reticle and turrets.
Ordered a 4 pack of 500 count tins of JSB’s as well so hope they shoot.
Now starts the wait.

I don’t know how to spell resivoir either…..but I wouldn’t be too concerned especially if you are getting the hill pump……shoot the gun 25 times and pump her up….you won’t get too far in the hole so to speak and have to pump forever……..shoot awhile and take a break…..make some target….have a drink……chill…..pump her back up and kill something……no sweat…..she’s a nice looker…..

That’s a great shot count in a gorgeous rifle. I think that I misspelled reservior. 😀
That was a concern of mine and there are always going to be trade offs trying to balance style,size, ergonomics, etc.
One thing is that while the resivior (is that how to spell it?)is small it has 230 BAR capacity. Hopefully that coupled with it’s moderate output,23-25 ft/lbs. will make for a decent shot count.
AOA shows a shot string of 50 shots in .22 that stay within a decent spread, 30 fps. Knock out the first and last four shots and they are within 20 fps. I’d be happy with anything over 30, 40 would be great.

That is a beautiful airgun. My only concern is the limited resivior…196cc, seems small to me. I wonder if there is a longer tank that could be installed to give you a greater shot count. Don’t get me wrong, that is a BEAUTIFULLY proportioned, sleek air rifle.
A buddy of mine had a huntsman and he loved the accuracy of.I think you will be happy with it.

AOA is busy to the point that they said it would be a day or two before they got the gun shipped. The order # tracking finally showed it is on it’s way scheduled for Wednesday.
Must…..be……..patient.
