What’s the best type open sight for long distance shooting?
I want a sight for long distance target shooting, plinking and hunting. What do you guys recommend?

i have a Mendoza adjustable rear peep and an adjustable front sight from AF(?)
i found the standard AF non-adjustable front sight inadequate for use with the standard rear sight as i could not get adequate elevation as a result of the low eye/cheek weld. 🙁
Thanks guys. I was hoping to put a set on my BSA but need an adapter first. The “better” AF sights caught my attention and thats what I’m really looking at right now.

I would love to have those but they are way out of my price range right now. 🙁
Peep sights are going to get you the most accurate definitely, however they limit your field of view, which may get in the way for hunting.
If you want an extremely precise rear peep sight, with a rotating eyepiece to change from larger to smaller field of view, buy mine. 😉
Yes I forgot about the edge sights your right they are made for what he wants.
But do they have the adjustment for long range?

A receiver peep sight with click adjustments, a long staff so you can reach out, from there it depends on what rifle you are putting it on.
03 target rfles and Mdl 70’s used to have those on the recievers as an after market item for NM shooting.
I used a 3 inch staff on my tang mounted veneir peeps, Montana Vintage Arms, that were mounted on my 74 and 78 sharps’. With close to 1700 inches of drop at a 1000 yards with a 200 yard zero, I could still make over 1100 yards.
If for Air guns they, crosman I believe, have a click adjustable reciever peep, it was on the PA Blog less than two weeks ago.
For the af rifles I do not know if anything like that is made. Those sights they make are too course for long range work, but others on this forum have made peep sights I believe from the af sight.

The AirForce Edge sights are really pretty descent for the money. I have a set on one of my guns and they work surprisingly well.

I don’t shoot at 1,000 yards but I know he didn’t mean 17 inches, thats too little drop….
