Q:

Adult Airgun #2

I have a LDCed RWS 850 in .177 on CO2, and I am wanting to go HPA with it for plinking and pests. I am looking for number 2, a PCP, to give me a reason to go HPA. I am looking at a few choices

1. Air Force in 22 or 25 for ridiculously speedy 50+fpe shots
2. Mrod in 22 or 25 for multishot 25-50 fpe shots
3. Korean 9 multishot for predators/pigs
4. Korean 45 for anything that walks into the scope.

The 850 will either get a 1000 psi reg for pest control for fun, or a 1600-1700 psi reg for pretending to be a .22.

I dont see much reason to go 22. if the .25 will put down much more fpe, and can shoot #3 buckshot for pretty cheap. IN the same vein, I can’t see going .25 if a Career can feed 6 9mm pellets at 150+fpe. It will be louder I am sure.

Main use for them would be night visitors of the 4 legged kind, and maybe hunting of predators or a pig (it is Texas after all). Whatever I get it will be tuned, or bought tuned.

Maybe I should stick to the .2X stuff for now, and get into the big bore when I have someplace to shoot stuff with it.

One thing for sure the 9mm shin sung don’t shoot worth a shit in my gun, if I had a choice and money was not a big issue, I would get a 25 Condor and power it up to shoot the 9 ring surefire slugs Jerry sells, you drive one of them bad boys in a skull of anything and it is brain damage.

hey jerry if ya need a tester i have a BIGED B51 making 43 FPE ready to rock for testing some .22 heavieys
let me know
id gladly test some out for you

Lyman #356632 mold.

speer makes a really good bullet that i shoot out of mine its a 125grn at 850 fps

I would avoid the 9mm but I might be biased. You’ll make up your own mind, I’m sure but I’ll pass this along to inform your decision:

As you might know, my son makes .25s for a number of folks (mostly Condor shooters on this site) and also .45s (the Barnes Raptor) as well as .308s and a number of Barnes custom designs just for the Barnes guns in use. In fact, he’s casting the second run of .22 test slugs right now that I will have to find testers for soon (from this site as the other sites are populated by weak gun shooters HaHa!). Anyhow, a while back I had about 3 folks in close succession ask about 9mm slugs. I’ve got nothing against the caliber but I’m not going to go buy molds that never pay for themselves. I’ve done more than enough subsidy work with buying a RCBS lead pot (after wearing out 2 Lee pots) and getting all the gear required for casting and dedicating space for the operation etc… If I invest in another mold, it’s going to have to have some demand for the product. Now, I have molds here that I don’t own and we use with the owners permission to make molds for the owner and for other customers. I also have molds here that belong to Gary and are only used for Barnes customers (and they don’t fit or suit any other guns anyhow) and I have a bunch of commercial molds that some .308 shooters once said they wanted slugs from but never ordered.

So, I offered the guys interested in 9mm the option of sending me the mold they wanted cast or paying the start-up costs of having a commercial mold bought or custom mold made. They would get a discount compared to any other customer that had not participated in the development or start-up costs. What do you suppose happened next? Nothing!

These guys were all looking for custom or high quality slugs but they wanted tham cheap as dirt and none of them wanted to risk a dime on anything. They would all be happy if once a year they could order 100 slugs for $10 but that’s the limit. If I had moved into 9mm production, I’d have a mold here that hardly ever got used and would never pay for itself.

The moral? 9mm will probably remain very limited in ammo for those not cating their own for a long time. If you get a 9mm and it does not like the Eun Jin pellets or you want more power, you’re screwed.

All that being said, Vogel might make 9mms, I’m not sure but he has a huge selection of slugs (hollow points) and has a good rep. It’s possible that he could keep you in slugs forever but he does charge a good penny for the slugs as he clearly has a bunch of molds to pay off. I think he’s a good guy and makes a good product but I don’t have any info on any 9mm product he might have available.

you can make your bullets by getting a mould and make your own that what i do and they work very well for me . but i make most of my bullets for all of my power burners :18 :18 :18

it probly can shoot it ive just seen many complaints about pellet choice for that gun

I’m told buckshot works fine for the 9mm. Also think I remember a ldc for it too

The repeater 9mm is regulated by the pellets u can shoot from what i see it can only shoot the 77grn eunjin pellets .if u want a production line bigbore go 45 or 9mm single shot thats just my opinion on that the condor is a good gun in both 22 and 25 the 25 is just limited to pellet selection
