Huntsman Classic
The brown truck showed up this morning with my 20 caliber Daystate Huntsman Classic.
My initial impression upon opening up the box and handling it were it is short, light, very nice, and not sure it is $1500 nice.
It came with a Hawke 6-24×50 scope which was half the size of the rifle.
I shot a few magazines with the Hawke. Nice enough scope. Clear optics and nice reticle. Just way too much scope for this rifle.
The first thing I had to do was get the hose with quick connect hooked up to my Air Force pump which actually took a little doing as the brass fittings in the pump were farmer tight. I say that as a farmer and thought I was going to end up breaking the pump getting the fittings out so as to be able to hook up the hose. Though there was a little drama I finally got that done and charged the Huntsman from 200 BAR to the 230 it is rated for.
First impressions were of how much quicker this was to fill than the Condor(grin)
The trigger pull is to die for. If my Condor had a trigger like this rifle it would rule the world.
AOA has the rifle sighted right on at the 35 yards I started shooting at and it became evident right quick that this rifle will stack the pellets if I do my part. It was nice to get that out of the way.
I haven’t had time to shoot through my chronograph yet but AOA sent a slip with 5 shots right at 863 with the 13.7 gr. JSB Exact pellets I ordered.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get time to shoot through the chronograph and see how many shots i get at what velocity. I’m guessing it will be 35ish as 20 shots only drop the pressure from 230 to 200 Bar.
I did a scope swap-a-roo with my Condor and put my Leupold 3-9×33 EFR on.
so far I am giving it a thumbs up.

Hows it shooting? I ask because I am a big fan of the the .20 caliber guns. My next purchase will more than likely be later this fall. I am kinda tossed up between the .20 cal Air Ranger, or a Falcon -if I could find one new. Like Sherrod, I did not know that the Huntsman was availble in .20- that adds something new to t the mix. Eager to see how well it shoots… The .20 caliber JSB does real well in my Talon, as does the .20 caliber Premier-try some and post some groups and chrony #s -when u get a chance.

The power is not adjustable as far as i know.
I thought it only came in .177 and .22 and called to order a .22. AOA said they did not have any .22’s on hand but did have .177, .20, and .25.

I did stretch it out to 50 yards tonight in a pretty good wind. 5 shot groups that a quarter will cover come pretty easily likely not the bottom line of the rifle’s accuracy.
This rifles trigger makes it very easy to shoot from less than perfect positions without moving the point of aim. I’m guessing 1.5ish with a very nice break and no unnecessary over travel.

Mainly I will be sniping birds with it, got 4 chippies and 1 starling already,but also plenty of paper killing and likely some squirrel/woodchuck hunting thrown in as well.
I have a TX200 for quite a few years which shoots a 14.3 JSB Exact 730 fps and that rifle’s killing ability always impressed me. I’m thinking this rifle with 13.5 gr. JSB’s at 860 will do pretty well too.
The Condor is a monster with the JSB Monster pellets at 1050 and that will still be getting plenty of air time too, especially for woodchucks.
But I do a lot of shooting daily and wanted something else a bit more moderate in air consumption and power while being a bit more refined. I also wanted a repeater.
With my powder burners I find heavy weights often get left behind for handier offerings that are often just as accurate and that is another reason I bought this gun over some others.

That is an elegant PCP rifle! 😀 800+ fps is respectable and I’m sure that it is more accurate than what you know at this point. As you shoot it for a while and push out the distance as you get to know it, you will be impressed with it. It’s going to have its limitations, just as all guns do. I’m sure that it will do what you want it to.
What are your goals for this elegant air rifle?

Noise wise it isn’t too loud but my Condor with Air hog shroud is quieter. Thinking if i could get a moderator on this thing it would be very quiet.

Will do when I get the time and decent weather. It is blowing out pretty good today so I just shot a 5 shot group for giggles at 20 yards. The result was a hole you could just slide a pencil into.
