Marauder Trigger Modification
I have tried this and it works very well. I removed my torsion spring altogether and replaced it with a spacer. My trigger was what I considered heavy before removing this spring. Now it is truly what I would call a “match” trigger.
Personally, I don’t like the idea of bending the spring material. It is tempered steel and will work harden and then break if bent back and forth too many times. That’s why I just replaced mine with a spacer of the appropriate thickness.
This makes for a VERY light trigger…BE CAREFUL!!! If you chose to do this modification, you do so at your own risk 😉 Good Luck!

Don’t let up for one minute. Do you have a .25 cal of any kind yet? That seems to be the “go to” caliber of choice at this time. I see myself with a GD .25 Marauder, tricked out for power sometime this summer.
My .22 is STILL under construction. Guy’s going out of business and his and mine are his last two jobs. In all fairness, he’s doing some special things worth waiting for.

Well, I’m a little embarassed about my spacer 😳 I took a paper clip and wrapped it around a 1/8″ drill bit, (the shank portion). I then cut it to 1/10″, (0.010″), thickness and installed it on the pin the spring came off of. I put the side plate back on with a little BreakFree on the screw threads, (just a drop for each). And that’s it 😀
That little spring is fat and has alot of pressure. That’s why adjusting the Trigger Weight Adjuster Screw, ((A) in the Owner’s Manual), didn’t seem to make any difference. I backed out that screw 3 whole turns without noticing hardly any change. After this trigger mod, I turned that screw back in 1/2 turn.
I liked the factory adjustment of the sear on my rifle, but the weight was just too much and not at all what I would expect from a “match” trigger. When I saw this other post, (Mamcrackin sent it to me), and started looking into it, I realized that this was the missing piece of information that would allow the trigger to operate as advertised. What do you guys think?
There are delrin spacers in this trigger assembly that you could probably buy fro Crosman. Or be creative and come up with your own. I considered using 1/16″ welding rod, but the paper clip was at my finger tips. I also thought about using two, or three tiny washers that I was going to enlarge their holes with a 1/8″ Whitney Punch. Again the paper clip was laying right there and did what I wanted it to do. When I was doing this, it was an experiment. I may replace it in the future.
Like you, I don’t like the idea of bending that 90 straight and then possibly back again if going “back to stock”.
I would think that you could also just bend the spring in towards itself a bit at a time to lessen the tension.
Your spacer idea is a good one.
Do you have a photo of what it looks like? Could someone just make one out of material on hand?
