barrel vibration

T he ?? is do yall think shooting at high speeds causes barrel vibration or destortion i know in alot of high speed very accurate rifles they have heavy barrels this absorbs recoil and helps with barrel flex i have done a mod on my barrel and i think it has helped with my accuracy

i took the barrel out of my condor and removed the bushings 1/2in from the bushing closest the muzzle i started cutting small grooves every 1/2in for 4in then i installed heavy orings in the grooves the grooves only need to be cut deep enough to accomadate the rings i figured this woild work like a barrel deresonator like u would get for ur centerfire guns

i understand pellets are a factor in high speed shooting but there has to be alot more to it that air moving that fast has to cause something tohappen in the barrel

i dont groove the bushings i groove the barrel someone already does the bushings i just did the barrel for a deresonator and it works for me my next condor is gonna be a full all out custom gun

This is a damed interesting idea ! If it worked well for several people I expect there would be a market for them .

Sure do them both if you have the equipment, but do them one at a time, so you can see the results of each individual tune.

I would do both so one end of the barrel isn’t different than the other… You can always buy another set of bushings they are only $15 or so a pair with screws…

Your setting the o-ring to just stick out the bushing, how tight are they when you slide them in the frame?

There absolutely are vibrations in airgun barrels. I took some high speed video once that while crude by hollywood or lab standards still allowed detection of barrel flex. That’s not a bad thing in and of itself. If the vibrations are always the same, you’ll get great accuracy. If the system isn’t damped in a positive manner though, you’ll get vibrations that seem random and can harm accuracy.

You compensate for vibration in how you hold the gun, where you mount the bipod and some folks use Wok’s trigger guard that ought to not just cut simple flex but also stiffen the gun raising the resonant frequency, lower amplitude…

Why wouldn’t you compenstae for vibration in barrel mounting?

I remember a fellow posted here that he had cut o-ring grooves in his bushings and was getting great accuracy. I can see how that mod might account for manufacturing tolerances while also allowing damped vibration.
