Q:

LEAKING VALVE STEALTH/TALON

HI THERE I AM JUST LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE IM HAVING TROUBLE WITH A LEAKY VALVE AND ITS DOING MY HEAD RIGHT IN.
ANYWAY IVE HAD THIS VALVE APART SO MANY TIMES I CANT REMEMBER IVE LAPPED THE VALVE A FEW TIMES AND STILL I PUT A BALLOON ON THE BUDDY BOTTLE AND IT STILL INFLATES THE BALLOON VERY SLOWLY MIND BUT STILL TO MUCH.
IT WOULD BURST AN AVERAGE BALLOON IN 2 OR THREE DAYS.
BUT IT MIGHT NOT SEEM TO BAD BUT I KNOW ITS THERE AND ITS BUGGING ME.
ITS NOT MADE ANY EASIER BY THE FACT THAT THE VALVE I HAVE IS ONE OF THE FIRST VALVES WHERE THE BRASS VALVE SEAT INSERTS FROM UNDERNEATH THE MAIN BODY NOT SCREWED FROM THE TOP WHICH CATCHES ON THE INTERNAL THREADS WHICH CAN SHREAD THE O RING VERY BAD DESIGN IF YOU ASK ME.
ANYWAY ANY ADVICE OR TIPS I COULD TRY WOULD BE APRECIATED
THANKS

huh I couldn’t hear you???

MAYBE HES TYPING FROM AN ENGINE ROOM…… 😉 😆

HI THERE WHO IS TT AND WHAT DOES HE DO TO VALVES AND ALSO HOW MUCH
CHEERS

How much have you shot it? If it isn’t that much, I would shoot a few tanks of air through it to see if the valve will seat itself.

If that doesn’t work send it back to where you bought it if you can, send it to TT for a rebuild/rework (it will work way better than a stock valve when you get it back) or buy another… If you send it to TT drain the air from the tank and send him the whole thing. If you don’t have the right tool you will mess up the outside of the valve…

There is a way to pull the stem from the bottle full of air but I have never done it. The tank has to be full to keep the seat in place. Personally if it doesn’t seat after some serious use I would send it to TT and get a Talon valve that’s more powerful than stock.

Like I said, a leaking faucet in the night.

NO ITS DEFINATELY NOT LEAKING AT THE BUDDY BOTTLE NECK END IT THE AIR LEAKS THROUGH THE TOP HAT SO ITS EITHER THE VALVE/VALVE SEAT OR THE O RING INSIDE INSIDE THE BODY WRAPPED AROUND THE BRASS SEAT PART OF IT BUT JUST CANT DEEM TO GET THIS THING AIRTIGHT AND AS FAR AS JUST PUTTING UP WITH THR LEAK THATS JUST NOT SOMETHING I COULD PUT UP WITH AS IT WILL HAUNT ME.
BESIDES I HATE TO LOSE 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥

NO, I was just talking about the union of the valve/body.

However you could try it there also, it is not like your not familiar enough with it by now.

Or live with the slow leak, in the end, that may be the sane solution, and yes I know, it is like a leaking faucet in the night.

Good luck,

HI THERE YES THAT IS SOMETHING TO TRY BUT DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE EASY ENOUGHT TO PLACE PTFE TAPE ON INSIDE THREADS INSIDE THE BODY.

If it is coming from the threads where the valve screws to the tank, and you do seem to suspect the o ring it seems, try teflon plumbers tape on the trreads.
