Q:

Ever wasted most of day on the same 15 parts while…

… taking a gun apart and putting it back together (over and over again) trying to find the right balance of hammer spring strength, trigger springs and tension, chasing suspected transfer port leaks (not an AF rifle), recrowning the barrel, polishing the lead and starting over because you KNOW that you started with parts that performed as good as you could ask for on other guns, but delivered crap results from the one in front of you.

During the week I took delivery of 2 Crosman CS 2400 carbines, cut the stocks down and pinned/filled/sanded and painted them to appropriate lengths for the kids. Swapped a variety of parts around (the kids got 2 spare 1377 barrels I got the long ones I ordered on the new ones). Basically took a couple of mine and the 2 new ones down to parts and rebuilt them.

Both of mine were 2250XT’s. One of them drove me NUTS. Once I stopped the leaks, I went though every pellet I have and could not group the damn thing. Apart and back together a couple times doing the things mentioned above. Still crap. Totally lost as the barrel shot great on the gun it came on.

Put it down and gave into the wife’s pleading to work on our swamp of a pool. While gaging on the sewage smell of the gunk I found while CLEANING THE LINES it hit me. I promptly went inside and ran about 20 lightly ‘goo-gone’d’ patches through the barrel (1st 5 were 100% black) a few dry ones then a few cleaning pellets than managed a .43″ group of 5 at 25y.

I feel like an idiot. Thanks for listening.

(( Kids rifles came out great, I’ll put picks up in the other guns section later))

The UNWRITTEN part of the marriage contract is:

HONEY DO THESE THINGS FOR ME…

OR ELSE YOU WON’T GET ANY OF THIS THING.

AFTER YEARS OF TRAINING YOU AUTOMATICALLY DO THOSE THINGS
BUT, IF YOU HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN WHAT ‘THIS THING’ IS, YOU REALIZE THAT ‘THIS THING’ AIN’T AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE.

If you’re lucky ‘this thing’ moves on thinking she still has it.
…. .. …. ..

Honey can you do this…?

Honey can you do that…?

Honey can you spend all you time doing things for me…? While I complain all the time and never put out.

🙄

As a man who has never married, that is the contract you sign your soul away on 😆

And just when you get close to the end of the list..
it mysteriously grows!!!

That or some appliance or some such shit breaks!!!

I understand your frustration as I have a bench full of parts that will hopefully turn into 5 separate pistol/carbines…when? I don’t know as I too have the wife adding chores to the “Honey Do” list on what seems like a daily basis 😥
