Q:

E-TaCREG Full String Numbers

Guys,

Finally the stars aligned, the honey-do list is down to a manageable size, the computer is working, the two-year-old is napping, eight-year-old and wonderful wife are enjoying some time together, it’s not storming, the grass is mowed and I got the opportunity to take a bone stock Condor, (thanks Rick and Claude) put the E-TaCREG on my JDS 2k reg and 48ci tank, got a chrony that works consistently, cleared a space in the garage and actually shot a full string of FP-10 lubed .22cal JSB 18gr pellets (thanks Dave). Power wheel on 12. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

The numbers are exciting to say the least. They are all within the parameters I think you guys will find acceptable. Here they are:

FPS: 950
Shots: 31
SD: 5.1
Extreme Spread: 20
High: 964 (once ???)
Low: 944 (once ???)

Most are in the 948-954 range, hence the low SD.

I am tickled with these results to say the least. I am ready to go into production on the E-TaCREG. It will not have a gauge or fill nipple on it. It will be fluted and black oxided just like the E-TaC.

I will be updating my brochure and will be creating my own webpages at http://www.kyhistoricsalvage.com to better serve the Airforce community. It will better explain the new variations and combination of E-TaCs and make ordering the correct one easier. Sales will begin when I post picture on here of the first completed production run.. End of the week. Price will be $90 shipped CONUS.

In order to incorporate the benefits of the E-TaC into the E-TaCREG I decided to do away with the top half (pin valve connector) of John’s reg and make the E-TaCREG the top half. What this does is shorten the system considerably (almost 1.5″) as well as make it easier to machine and better looking to boot. I will have some pictures of this on the website for the DIY crowd. The E-TaCREG has three times the volume of the Airforce CO2 Adapter for more efficient regulator action; ie, more shots.

However, if you currently have an Airforce CO2 adapter, you can still use the JDS Airforce Bottle Reg as he will sell them complete with the pin valve connector.

The E-TaC will still be available as a stand alone product in it’s current configurations (Right hand, left hand, straight angled drop, straight out, HPA and Airforce threads). The E-TaCREG will come in the same angle configurations but will not have the HPA designation; the E-TaCREG will accept the current JDS Airman Regs as well as the new JDSAirman Airforce bottle regulator when it comes out shortly. The JDS Airman regulator will determine which bottle you can use. Due to the differences in the internal construction of the other regulators, the E-TaCREG work exclusively with the JDSAirman regs.

John and I are discussing the best possible way for our customers to get the E-TaCREG system. We will both sell our products separately, but will also offer them as a system for those who do not feel comfortable taking the reg apart and putting the E-TaCREG on it.

I want to thank all of you who have stuck with me during this process. I think you will find the E-TaCREG to be a wonderful product backed by the 100% no hassle guarantee that the E-TaC has had since it was launched in October of last year. Customer satisfaction is #1 for me and I will stick to that business model as long as you trust me with your hard earned money.

Regards and God Bless,

Jim

Jim if I missed it my bad! but what was the fill pressure for you shooting thanks Eddie

Thanks Jim, I am having my 24 inch .22 barrel cut down (breech end) to 18 inches and a slight extension machined to extend past the barrel 3″ for the barrel collar to be an reciever end.

You are correct in stating the AF CO2 adapter has a very small volume to work hence why Van opens them up.

I will be leaving my .25 LW barrel at 23.4 inches but running a shorter 18″ .22 setup and my 858cc HPA tank with .22 Predators or 18 grain .22 JSBs around the 1000 fps range. Running a reg like yours just puts this platform more in the higher end league of airguns with regs but at a reasonable cost.

Once I get everything done I will post some stats as well I am going to a lighter smaller 3-9×42 scope as oppossed to my 10-40X50 heavywieght scope.

All in all should be a high capacity lighter package, but with your adaptor and the JDS 2k reg is just make it all so much better as the cheek weld is a challenge without your realignment.

PS had to chuckle about your kids ages and finding time, same with me. 😆

Randy,
Sorry I missed your post earlier.

The larger tank will not increase the velocity, only the number of shots.

I don’t think you will get that many more shots. 53ci is only 1.1x bigger than a 48ci tank. Given the 22ci gave 18 shots, the 48 gave 31 shots, the 53 should theoretically give 35 or so.

I will need to pick up some more 18gr JSBs but if you remember my older post, the 18in barrel was far, far more efficient.

Hey Synopsys,

There will be a fill nipple and pressure gauge on the system, just not on the E-TaCREG body.

One of the main reasons why the E-TaCREG body will not have a fill nipple is that back filling a regulator is a bad idea. The other is that the JDSAirman regs have one in the right place.

The E-TaCREG body will not have a pressure gauge either. The gauge is also on the reg so it will read the bottle pressure as well. The gauges are not accurate enough to warrant putting one in the regulated chamber. If you wish to monkey with the reg to adjust the pressure, you really need the proper test fixture, and don’t do it on the rifle.

Yes, 2000psi output for these numbers. That is the pressure I will be offering as standard and stocking. Others can be ordered but with the adjustability of the Airforce powerwheel and tophat, I don’t think there is much need to get a different pressure.

No problem at all with the questions. I’m here to answer any and all.

Jim

😯 Not bad at all!!!

2000psi output pressure? Will it have a fill nipple?

Sorry for the newbie questions, only read about regulators and how to mess a couple up by not filling them the right way. 😆 😉

Hi Jim…

Thank you for those great inventions for our Airforce.

Congratulations from Spain

😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉

I mentioned to John awhile back his product would work well with your magic. 😀

So how about this, 53 cu in JDS tank (858cc) 2K reg, should drive 18 grainers or .22 Predators to around 950 to 980 fps and give 60 to 80 consistant shots, what do you think.

Randy

SS&SU,
Thanks for the kind words.

I thought they were awesome numbers too.

As far as adjusting the reg, I would probably be talking out of turn since I don’t make or adjust them. I do know how they work, and how they are adjusted, so my best guess would be yes, you could get whatever pressure out you’d like. I would imagine if you requested a reg at a higher pressure John could set it for you. It is simply a matter of setting the belleville washers to exert a certain amount of force and travel based on the desired psi on the plunger.

Regards,
Jim

Jim
Those numbers look almost perfect for the 18g pellet !
For those using a talon valve or a condor valve on a 25 alittle higher reg pressure may be needed , maybe 2400 psi . Will we be able to adjust the reg up to that ?

Looking forward to the pics

Hey Huckleberry,

Oh yeah, there will be lots of pictures here too.

I’ll post one shortly of the mule on the 48ci for grins. On Tuesday I’ll have the very first “real” one blacked and fluted and the oohing and ahhing can begin. LOL.

I am VERY VERY happy with the ergonomics of the is model on the 1″ rings of this rifle. Feels very nice. Pictures of someone a lot prettier than me will be included.

Jim

great news pictures here please
