Condor Bolt Thrower…HOLY CRAP!!

Finally had a chance to covert my condor over to a fully dedicated Tagdagger bolt thrower and man this thing is beyond belief.
I have shot all kinds of bows and crossbows and all I can say is UNFREAKENBELIEVABLE!!!!!
Conversion was a breeze thanks to the great instructions from TD and the valve wrench from Marmot_Miliitia (thanks again) I had to really whack the crap out of it to get it to break loose, but once it did the rest was a breeze.
The only difference in the feel is obviously that it is harder to cock with the heavier spring and the safety is kind of hard to disengage.
I should have listened to TD and just enjoyed this thing with my “condor valve” because when I sent that first arrow at the target I could not believe how fast that thing was moving. But having his valve spring and bored out retainer sitting their just starring at me…I had to put it in!
I can’t wait to crony these to see how fast they are moving. All I can say is that I shot it at 16 yards (big mistake) I could not see the arrow moving and when it hit my target it came out the back side (see photos below). I did not expect it to pass through the target…although I have never owned one of these arrow targtets..I thought it was dense enough to stop them….Boy was I wrong. I managed to get the arrow out with only damaging one vane.
After the first shot I heard my nosey neighbor mumble some words from the confines of their pool deck on the other side of my privacy fence, so I decided to go to the fron of my house where I could lesson the noise for them (it is about as loud as any unshrouded condor…) and add some distance. I put the target out thirty yards but this was not enough to keep the arrow from dissapearing inside the target again. This time it was around three inches less deep than the first shot so I was able to put a drill bit in the back of the shaft and gently ease it back out with a vice grip without damage.
I adapted the Crosman stock to this bolt rifle as I wanted to do something a little different. I think these Crosman Stocks look pretty good along with the Wokguard!
Tomorrow I will try it at 40 or 50 yards (so as not to loose arrows inside my target block 😈 )
All I can say is this is going to be FUN, FUN, FUN! Thanks again Tagdagger this is a great Mod for certain!
No time for accuracy testing, but I doubt mine will be any different than everyone eleses in that it will be best to shoot this off hand unless you want to spend tons of change on arrows 😆

Joe I have shot Archery all my life so if you need any help on arrows fletching and such let me know from the looks of your arrow that is about right going in that far on your target it looks like you have plastic vanes so if it goes through your target take and push it as far as you can on the knock end you won’t hurt the plastic fletching at all then just pull it out by grabbing the field point! they also make a neat tool for Archery you can make one what it is, Is a piece of round rubber like tubing with a hole just slightly bigger on the ID than your arrow then you can cut this peice which you can make about 6 to 8 inches long cut it or slit it with a razor knife all the way down on one side along it length it allows you to grab the arrow and have allot more grip on the arrow when pulling it out of a target I shot 3d targets for years they set up animal targets made out of a dense foam at different yardages you had to figure out how far they were and they scored you on where you hit it center of bull being the kill zone was allot of fun but getting older and shoulder problems limits me to some target shooting here at home to get ready for hunting season! You are probably shooting around 350 to 380 fps and that is fast most compound bows don’t shoot that fast! 😆 Have fun Eddie

What is the weight of your bolts?
The points are 100 gr and the arrow itself weighs 185 gr (285 gr).

I did shoot it into the right side. The other side is the same as the one with the tip protruding. They are both field point sides.
I am thinking that the Broad head side should be better to slow it down as it is made for a razor cutting through…what do you guys think? That is what I am going to try next.
I need to zero the scope on this thing. I just got back inside and I set it up at at least 50 yards…maybe more. I held over one mil and the arrow found the bottom of the target…but even at this distance it still managed to go in almost entirely. I was shooting a little left and on my next shot I set up six layers of cardboard in front of the target with my last good arrow, but I forgot to adjust my windage right…and the arrow managed to find the only part of the targe that the cardboard was not covering (a 3″ strip on each side) and there went two of my vanes I reglue them each time, but they need to dry before I reuse them 😡
The good news is I have my local archery shop making me 24 bolts. They won’t be ready until next week some time. I will need all of these as I plan on trying some long distance shots and I know I will loose a few in the process 😆
I made a really sweet custom quiver. I will post pics either later on today or tomorrow. It will hold four arrows on the top frame rail 😎
If you shoot into the target the ‘right’ way the arrow should go in less.

Before you time yourself, get another target, you will lose them in there at that close range or they may pass thru. I suspect mine has eaten at least one and it is made for Crossbows. Or you could let your air supply get low to lower velocity better yet.
Also when you time, use the field points, not broadheads, so you don’t have to pick up your fingers afterwards 😆 .
When I did it, I had 2 arrows in my pants pocket, and one in the rifle, I checked the watch as I shot the first one and then after I fired all three I checked it again.
With practice, and a person to time you, I think you could beat that 20 seconds.
I would suppose you would use hose clamps to attach the quiver???
If you get that bolt conversion of Subsonnics, it will make cocking it so easy and increase speed and safety.

I here you on the safety thing…that is always a touchy/personal preference. Since this will be my “go to weapon” if things go bump in the night…perhaps I will be removing it. I am going to add a quiver as well.

It looks like your arrow is in deeper in your photo. If you look at my photo it sits at the point where I felt some resistance while loading it in. I did not want to force it in any further…is this a good location for it or should it be in a little more?? Thanks.
Or is that a talon ss frame in your picture? I think I recall someone saying that frame is shorter than the Condor frame, right or wrong???
Your right it will go in another inch or so. The arrow barrel is recessed an inch at the back to keep the over all length down.
Im reluctant to suggest removeing the saftey, but in reguards to selfdefence with the safety removed you can send a lot of arrows down range in a very short time especially with a gun mounted quiver.

I see the PSE crossbow that sits on an AR 15 receiver will equal that with a longer shaft, but it costs nearly a $1000. and you could not own it if you had a record. They have one on a frame they make, but it is still very expensive, and does not have quite as much velocity. And I would suspect they are slower to reload.

The Talon frame is the short one, the SS and the Condor frame are of equal length.
Do all your arrows go to the same depth? Sometimes glue in the shaft where the insert is glued in can run down the shaft before it sets up and limit how far you can push it down.
I push mine down with a rotating movement and when it hits the bottom it seems to seat, or screw in just a thousands or so.
Yes I am sure that gives you a higher feeling of security that you have not had for a while, good for you. At inside house ranges, it can be fired at a rate of at least 3 in 20 seconds.

Yep, I know what you mean Eddie. My shoulder is still screwd up from shooting high poundage in 3-d comp. for years. 😆
