Q:

NcStar scopes ?

I was thinking about ordering a NcStar 4-16 x50 w/ 30mm tube. Anybody have any experience with these? Any input would be appreciated, Thanks

Leapers, Ncstar are about the same. All scopes will work under ‘normal’ use, it’s only at certain times that you see a radical difference in performance… unfortunately, it seems to happen when you have something nice to shoot at. When the sun comes in at an oblique and washes out the front objective, the cheap scopes lose contrast, everything is washed in light and it is very difficult to make out the target. Also dusk and dawn resolution and brightness is hard to get in cheap glass. But if you avoid those times and don’t need the extra performance, nothing wrong with a cheap scope for playing around.

I agree with this, to an extent. Cheap scope for a year or two or a good scope for the next 5 years? I say this only because I learned the hard way. I bought an inexpensive Tasco 6-24×50 in January. It has NEVER been bumped, bounced, tapped, etc. Only the minimal recoil from my condor has “chattered” it and now it won’t hold a zero and the knobs are screwed up. For the last 2 months, I have to re-zero it everytime I use it but for the last month, when I adjust for windage to the right, my poi moves NORTH! I’m going to get a couple of good scopes and be done with it for awhile.

What Walt said! 😉

Sounds like they may have gotten a little better! 😉

Just out side of Killeen.

Get a Leapers then.

Thanks for responding knifemaker. I wanted to spend $ 150 or so for a scope with target knobs, close focus on the turret, etc. I saw that the guy i ordered my rifles from carried the NcStar scopes, he said if i didn’t like it for any reason i could return it. no reponse for a while from anyone on the forum(till you) so I ordered one. So far I like it . It’s not light but seems to have a sturdier tube than most cheap scopes. Has held the zero on my .25, only time will tell. I haven’t been impressed with most of the Bushnell, BSA, etc. scopes I’ve seen, I had a couple Sightron mildots lying around but no close focus or target knobs on them. Where you at in central texas? I went to jr high in Copperas Cove and High school in Burnet. We lived at Buchanan dam and I had the chioce of going to school in burnet or LLano. The area around Kingsland and Marble Falls is one of my favorite places.

I think no one has answered you because they are considered some of the worst out there. But no one wants to say so. (No one wants to be rude.) 😆
