I think you got it Jane! Seems odd at first but loading her and de cocking is damn safe and great for hunting. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people 😆

The Talon SS I have uses a length of music wire to engage or disengage it the safety. When I moved the plastic forend back toward the pistol grip the safety fell out and I had to figure it out. It works as it came from the factory again. I have worked with music wire (tempered steel rod, small diameter) before and I’m going to do two things: first replace it with one size larger rod, and second, lengthen it and bent it over to the side more so my trigger finger can disengage it just before firing. Presently I disengage it when loading and that defeats having it altogether.

i, for one, was not aware of how to remove the safety device.

it’s not a matter of not wishing to help others, it’s a matter of concern for safety as was said very well by roachcreek.

removal of safety devices from ANY mechanical device is a recipe for disaster. whether or not it will occur is not a matter of “if” it will occur, but “when” it will occur…

I got a new SS yesterday, it took me maybe ten minutes to get the safety out.

Remove the grip and trigger plate, then remove the safety pushrod and the springs it comes in contact with on the safety block.

That block has a similiar spelling on the diagram on this forum.

Then remove the pins on the frame, they are the two pins towards the muzzle, the block and springs drop out with it. Those pins only come out one direction, so be careful which way you push them.

Replace the pins, put the three springs back in that work the trigger and sear and replace that trigger plate and grip.

You now have no safety, you will shoot yourself or someone you love if you are careless with gun handling!

So practice lowering that hammer again and again and again so that you do not shoot something you do not want to , like a loved one, ingrain lowering that hammer in your mind until it is a natural reflex with this weapon.

Seriously, you need to practice this.

Gee Jane, you post in the early evening, you receive a reply from a respected poster the next morning, you don’t post any further specific questions, after 3 days you complain and we are rude…Right?

Many have posted their ideas and opinions and they are available on the board somewhere. If you don’t have the time to read a lot, just ask specific questions and if the answers vary, ask more and give more details about your problem if possible.

It appears your mind is set on removing the safety. They generally don’t work correctly because it got put together wrong. And then, it is rather stiff especially if the Power Wheel is turned up. Oh, does your stealth have a Power Wheel or heavier hammer spring? Had it been worked on before the safety began to present problems?

By the way, there are different configurations of the springs as I screwed mine up temporarily from putting the spring in in the wrong place. If it doesn’t work right after you’ve had it apart, maybe you got the wrong diagram like me. You should have received some links to posts by Mancrackin who posted a revised arrangement of the springs due to a change by the manufacturer that was an improvement.

Some here are experts in many ways but we don’t all have all the correct answers. Mostly it will depend on what you bought, what changes were made by the manufacturer over the production run, who did what before you got it, and what you may have done while not knowing there are differences.

I have a high mechanical aptitude from years of training and work repairing numerous complex mechanical devices so I feel comfortable doing my own repairs. All repairs require careful testing for proper operation. Most people shouldn’t mess with something that is called a safety. It could create a more dangerous situation and you can’t blame the manufacturer if you accidentally shoot someone or yourself in the toe.

Good Luck Jane, and do thorough testing of your work. If something doesn’t seem right, shelve it until you or someone else has a chance to check it out.
