Valve modification question for the powers that be…
…I had to take out my Talon ss valve (2005) gun to have the tank hydroed…so I took apart the valve. I saw the “sticky” for valve mod, but I have a few questions before I “mess” this thing up.
How do I remove the delrin seat from the valve stem without gauling it??
Will I benefit from using a spare condor valve spring retainer (that I have laying around) and spring. ??? I noticed that it is much wider for flow and I also noticed that the spring, although wider…is the same length as the talon ss valve spring. The condor valve spring is much lighter than the SS valve spring, so I am assuming this will enable the valve to remain open longer for more air, correct? If anyone else has any other suggestions…please feel free as I am going to work on this tomorrow. Thanks guys!

You should see easy 900’s with a modded valve and 12″ barrel….

Yeah I was thinking about calling Rachel at Airforce…any idea what a condor stem will cost??
When I shot the 12″ talon ss with the bottle and valve it came with it went around 810 fps with 16 gr exacts (.22).
When I put my condor bottle treated by Tony…the same pellets went 1043 fps.
I wonder how much difference it will in fps over the 810 if I just replace the spring and retainer and polish it up?? And I can also do the valve mod which opens the stem up to 1/8″ (which honestly does not seem like that much since it is nearly that size anyway 😕 )
I”m not looking for this thing to be a “powerhouse”. I would like a little more fps while maintaining a good shot count. Maybe I’ll put out a wanted add for the valve stem 🙂

X2 use the condor spring and retainer but chamfer and smooth out the opening in the retainer on the tank side…then just drill out the stem to .125 and the two side ports to the same and your set and ready to polish…..another thing to do is when you reassemble the valve put some Teflon tape on the spring retainer to help keep it from backing out and screw it in only until it just starts to compress the spring then quit…hope this helps…
Grit, I just pull the stem off the seat , often with the valve in the bottle under pressure.. 😮 😀 With the valve out it should pull off easy. I know the end of the stem is splined but it doesn’t seem to damage the seat. I guess if you did it many times it may start to chew the delrin..
Yes! Use the Condor spring if its wider and weaker. All you need now is a condor stem…. 😉 😆

Ah, it’s another Talon valve stem… But there are some modded valve guides… Sounds like the kind of stuff that would fit in well on your bench…
