Q:

AirForce, black gun or black hole?

Where to start?
I bought a used TSS here a couple weeks back, and a separate deal, his scope. Nice gun, came with 12″, 18″ 22cal. and 12″ 25cal. It has the Condor valve installed and came with the stock valve. It would be nice to get an extra tank for the stock valve. $$

Two barrels have been cut down so I will need to find someone to cut a crown in them. $$

I have a full bulk CO2 tank that I can use, so I am thinking about a CO2 adapter. $$

I bought a scuba yoke on the Yellow, did I mention I don’t have a scuba tank? I have one I can borrow but that will be temporary. $$
This yoke can be converted to scba, did I mention I am talking to a volunteer fireman about some tanks they have left after upgrading? $$

I bought a 24″ barrel from 80grit, [Thanks Joe], it looks nice, did I mention I still haven’t got a way to fill my tank yet?

With a 24″ barrel, I will need to quiet it down. $$

With the different valves and barrels and maybe CO2, a chrony will be a must have. $$

AirForce needs to give their guns away and get into the aftermarket business, that’s where the money is! 😆

If I hadn’t talked to Rob3dr about other guns [Thanks Rob] and picked up an HW80, not being able to shoot the TSS would be killing me.

Now, the transmission went out in my truck, that will be $2000, so this will have to wait. 🙄

I started 5 years ago and have put some money into my Condor but have no regrets.

There are start up costs with any PCP setup, but I prefer options and learning so now I have my choice a .22 shorty or a .25 hammer.

I use CO2, 1400, 2000 psi, 490cc or 858cc hpa, mild to wild and did this with a budget over a few years.

Or you can bite the bullet and buy a PCP with half the power no options and twice the cost like a European airgun, no thanks I will stay with something simple and made in the US.

I like keeping money on our land mass.

Two Dogs, et al,

Reading this post made me realize where I went wrong.

When I decided to get back into air rifles, I was vacationing in the Philippines with my wife. I had decided on a RWS 54.

Then I read about the Condor and the darkness decended around me. Now I have a SS 22 a Condor 22 and a frame coming from a 3 way deal with 80 grit for a frame for my Airarcher. Not to mention the glass for each one and two scuba tanks.

I now see what all the fuss is about springers, it is like a substance abuse treatment thing isn’t it?

It does get better once you have your stuff.

I used a scuba tank for a long time. It is convenient if you have someplace local to fill.

After awhile you will realize you need a Wokbutt for your gun. It really does improve the shooting experience by making it much more comfortable to shoot as many will attest here.

Once you gun is dialed it you will have a lot of fun with it. I set mine up a few ago and never have to dick with it. Blue locktite will keep everything nice and secure 😀

Good luck!!! Don’t worry too much just a few major startup costs but after that it slows down some unless you have that have to buy a new gun all the time disease lol 🙂

If these barrels had the muzzles cut off they are not worth recrowning. The AF barrels have a choke at the muzzle and should always be cut from the breach. 😯

Synopsys, thanks for the warning.
That’s something I have been wondering about. The 18″ barrel and the 12″ 25cal. have been cut at the muzzle. I read that if you cut at the muzzle with a pipe cutter, it will put some choke back in the barrel. That will be a project for down the road, I have a good 12″ and 24″ for now.

I won’t even bother with the cut barrels until I have everything else set up and need a new project to work on 🙄

Half the stuff you mention you would need for pcp regardless of the gun.

Your right about that.

I was just looking at how far I put the cart up the road without even thinking about getting a horse 😆
I knew what it would be before I started, but a good deal came up so I went for it. It will be nice when I get it all put together.

Now your preaching to the choir 😡 I own four “black rifles” and I don’t want to even think about how much $$$$$$$$ I got in them 😈

You hove barely scratched the surface of $ eating possibiltys . Abandon hope ye who enter here .

The one good thing is the ability to part out your bird and recoup most of the costs. 😉 But I hear what your saying, it add up fast and I don’t even have a scuba tank!

Half the stuff you mention you would need for pcp regardless of the gun.
