Getting a handle on the silent bullet trap

When I started making my bullet trap, I looked for a cheaper alternative to the junction boxes to contain the Duct Seal material. I searched St. Vincent Depaul for a baking dish to hold the Duct Seal.

I was cruising thru the sporting and construction items when I spied this document box for well under $5.00.

I tried it first with two layers which was 10 blocks of Duct Seal, but when shooting a group, and stacking them, with 32 EJ’s@ 960FPS, I had an exit hole on the fifth shot.

It took some strategic hole flattening, then I reinforced it with metal electrical box lids, 4 of them overlapping in the center and then added 5 more bricks or one more layer of Duct Seal.

I set it on top of fence posts at my range, with the lid hanging down to clear the target, and the weight of the 15 pounds of Duct Seal keeps it there during impact.

It is easy to carry the 15 pound box with one hand and the rifle in the other, my box of Gamo regulation air rifle targets fit in the clip in the lid. Sitting in the back of my Audi, it looks like I am a accountant rather than a target shooter.
