Sig 556 anyone have one?
I am looking at getting the Sig 556 or an AR-15. I have shot and handled ARs but only had the chance to hold the Sig. I liked the feel of the Sig better than the AR but how does it compare performance wise? The Sig cost much more than the ARs I am looking at but from the feel and looks I am considering it. If you have a Sig or both an AR and Sig please let me know your thoughts.

Jeff….first off, let me tell you how much I enjoy the avatar of your sister, and her willingness to help you enjoy this sport, and make new friends. It’s rare, outside of Arkansas and West Virginia, to find siblings as close as the two of you obviously are! Just a daily dusting of Gold Bond Powder will relieve that nasty itch she seems to have.
Secondly, I have a Sig P239 by my bedside in Sig .357 mag (40 Smith necked down to 9mm). It’s a one shot kill weapon, due to the fact that even a close miss will result in 3rd degree burns guaranteed to burn the son of a bitch to death…slowly. A gut shot with the Talon hollow points is also guaranteed to inflict a sudden attitude change in a perp as well.
The outstanding quality of Sig over the other auto pistols I have owned and tried, is hard core metal construction, and economy of design. It is simple, durable, will not jam, misfire, or malfunction…at least in my personal experience.
I’ve tried clones, look-alikes, and attempts to replicate the original. In all cases, I spent more trying to save a few bucks than I eventually spent finally getting the real thing. That goes for my PCP Edgun as well.
Do the right thing. That Sig is what you want, and you’ll never regret spending every dime it will certainly cost you.

Yeah I figured the ARs would have an accuracy advantage but from what I’ve read not much.
ITs all about what you want to spend your money on, sigs are excellent rifles, outstanding workmanship, op rod design will probably not be as accurate out of the box as the ar ‘s direct gas impingement system.
but the sigs op rod system doesent direct spent gas into the action of the rifle, so it would be more reliable longer without cleaning.
Personal choice.
A good DPMS will more than likely out shoot the sig for less money out of the box..

and here is my fav. ar , have not seen one shoot bad yet, and have shot 7 personally. from 16” AP-4’s in 223,and 24” bull guns in 223 , to 20” classic 308 and 24” bull barrlel 308’s.

I have a sig 226 I know its not an assault rifle but as far as handguns go I LOVE it and would never sell it….its super reliable ie. It always goes bang no mater how dirty or crummy the ammo…the fit and finish of all the parts is above par and well worth the money…I am looking to get a compact sig when the funds become available to burn…but that’s just my opinion..
