Hammer Weight for slap mod
I’m wondering what hammer weights people have had success with on the hammer slap mod. I did my mod just like the Talon Tunes mod (except in a vmc) with a 90 duro o-ring and also increased the preload with a 3/16 urethane washer between the hammer and spring.
This is a stock valve and hammer .22 SS that with a 2900 psi fill (Pw @ 10-12) will do 790-804 fps in a ten shot string with 18.1 JSB. There is however an 8-12 shot low power lag to get thru the valve lock.
Quiet and compact is crucial in my neighborhood.
I’m thinking that a heavier hammer will maybe eliminate the lock and improve the adjustment range of the power wheel without much increase in sound.
I know some aren’t big fans of the slap mod for this reason, but perhaps betweeen the preload and heavier hammer I can achieve the desired result?

you might be supprised as to how quiet your SS really is….you might want to try letting someone else shoot it so you can stand to the side and hear the shot from a distance…I did an SS for a guy here in town that swore up and down that i actually made it louder till he heard me shoot it , thats when he realized that he was now hearing the tank ping and hammer slap which were covered up by the report before i got a hold of it… 😈…but if you’ve already done the hammer slap mod then a heavier hammer cant hurt but it might not let you get the fps as low as you’ed like if you use a hammer thats too heavy…i know that 95grams is TOO MUCH for a standard talon valve and power wheel at 0/0 (at least on my gun)…
