Q:

NOT impressed by .22 marauder

my buddy let me borrow his marauder last week and i been testing it out. i have to say iam not impressed by it, dont get me wrong its a great rifle for the money but the only thing it has going for it is its ability to get quick follow up shots, the condor i have beat it in every other category. i have a talon tunes condor with all the mods, a 12in .22 cal barrel, and a 8 inch Don G shroud. when i was testing both rifles they both gave me one whole groups at 35 yards with jsb exacts at 860 fps. but the condor kept giving me groups that were 2 or 3 mm tighter than that of the marauders. i repeated this 5 times and every time the condor had groups about 3mm tighter than the marauder. then comes the issue of what rifle is quieter. the marauder is a quiet rifle i would say its quieter than my talon ss but i have to say the marauder is not quiet enough. when i was shooting groups in my back yard with the marauder my neighbor was outside and he actually peaked over the fence and said ” this new rifle of yours is alot louder than your other one” .i asked him if it was loud and he said that it was not loud loud but he could tell when i would take a shot. he said that when he came outside and he heard the discharge he wondered what the noise was he said “it defenetly grabed my attention.” i began thinking to myself is the marauder really that loud? so i picked up my condor and asked him to listen and see if he could hear me shoot it. after five shots he said all he could hear was the pellet hit the clay back stop, he couldnt hear the discharge of the rifle. so i cranked the power wheel all the way to 12 and asked him what he coould hear. after five shots all he said was ” all i hear is a pppfffff its not enough to grab my attention like that other rifle of yours, like i said before that other rifle is not loud but its loud enough to make me look around, if i came outside and you were shooting the condor i would just keep walking and not look around. having said that the marauder is a good rifle for the money but you get what you pay for its missing some of the features that my FX monsoon an other pcps have but it a good rifle overall

Was the Marauder a stock rifle? If so, you are comparing apples to oranges. Compare a stock Condor to a stock Marauder to get a valid comparison. I would guess if you spent the same extra $250-300 on modifying an MROD that you spent on the TalonTunes Condor, the difference would boil down to personal preference. and yes, I would prefer the Condor.

Cool , i like both.
