Q:

Bench Rest Kickstand

I tend to shoot off a bench or table quite a bit. I started thinking how FT shooters have a palm or knee rest on their guns so I decided to apply that idea to bench rest shooting for my Talon.

It gives a nice flat stable surface to shoot from and makes keeping the gun on target a lot easier. It lays nice and off a rest or anything you lay your gun to shoot off of.

I used a plate of aluminum 1/4x 2 1/2 x 6″ and mounted it to 2 scope mounts mill flat and drilled and tapped for a 10-32 stainless bolt.

It works well and can easily be install or removed for a bench rest shooting session.

Yes, doh, Rider… I found it by searching for slider… Wow, nice move butterbrains. 😕 Better lay off the power tools. 😆

Far too many things going on at once for me, I shouldn’t have been trying to make a post. 😈 🙄

Let me do some digging in the plastic bin and see what I have. What size are you thinking?

Sweet idea on the butt slider.

Here is where I first saw this stuff. Very Talon looking PB’s.

With a little research I found out it is called a “Bag Rider”

Very cool 😀

So I will call it a “Talon Bag Rider” 😛

I am going to make an adjustable shoulder piece bag rider adapted to the Wokbutt. So with the front and rear bag riders in place you can very accurately sight in your rifle.

I believe a Hamster is for FT shooting (positioned or offhand, no bench rests).

What you made if used for benched shooting is called a Front Bag Slider. A few companies make them for AR’s and I have seen some on benchrest forums.

I have tons of 1″ thick hdpe scrap… 😕

I did not know that. I want to find a picture of one any idea where?

HDPE scrap donations will be accepted

😀 😀

Mount that plate to a Harris adjustable bipod and you got yourself a product. 😆 (Royalties can be sent to……….)

I already thought of that but did not have a stud to bolt in today.

Those hamsters look cool but are a little to narrow and cant be mounted to the AF gun.

Bikini scope cover. 😉 😆

Nice work guys. BR guys call them a bag slider or something like that.

Hamster? Pre Richard Gere? Or post? 😆

YN, What the heck is that black bobble thing on your scope?

Dave

Thanks, YN 😉

Very nice you guys! I thought of something similar after seeing the adjustable forearm on the Edge rifles….

YN, can you PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE tell us where you got those picatinny/weaver rails from???? Thanks.

Joe

Known as a “Hamster” isn’t it, Nobody really knows why, must be some kind of joke people made when a guy once turned up to a FT competition with one 😀

Dave

YN,

That looks great. Love your Caldwell Rest 😀

They work quite well

The High Density Plastic slide’s nicely in the bench rest I own… didn’t dye too easily though.
