New Marauder 25 Cal
This is my first PCP. Using a Leapers 3-9×40 30 mm tube. Only thing I did before testing the marauder was use krytech wax lubricant on H&N baracuda pellets.
Very pleased with the accuracy and overall feel of the marauder. I was going hunting and sighted the rifle in fairly quickly but was able to get one ragged hole groups at approximately 45 yards. I went hunting that night, and did not get a shot. The next morning, I decided to sit at a tank and take some practice shots at some very small birds. My son was also shooting with me, and we were able to hit these little birds about two-thirds of the time at approximately 50 yards. I’m talking about a kill area approximately the size of a quarter.
I have hunted with pellet rifles for 50 years. Started off with a Sheridan, tried a couple of springers, but have been unable to shoot them accurately. PCP’s seem to be in an entirely different league. I might try a Condor next.
I used an FX 4-stage pump. Pumping up from 2000 psi to 2800 psi was not very hard, and took approx five minutes. Was getting at least 16 good shots per fill. I do not have a chronograph, but POI was the same between 2000 and 2800 psi.

Why do you think that your chronograph is not working correctly? (Lack of light, too much light, fluoroscent lighting, maybe the pellet isn’t going over the sensors properly?)
My chrony doesn’t work right over half the time. Never did a full string but I believe it shot the JSB Kings at 860’S. Which I think is low 40’s fpe.
Hi Lee, have you chronographed it yet? Or, are you one of the balanced people who are not obsessed with numbers? 😉 I just had to turn mine up…all the way, as far as it would go while maintaining a bell curve. That’s 830 fps up to 850 fps and the back down to 830 fps over 16 shots using the 30 grain Kodiak/Baracuda. The .25 Marauder is a great air rifle! 😀
I love mine here is 16 shots with JSB Kings at 40 yards. I haven’t touched anything on this gun. Its straight out of the box.
If you are asking me, I’m getting 45-50+ ft lbs. depending on which pellet I’m using and the amount charge in the gun. I shoot my resivior down below 2000 psi when rat hunitng…it just doesn’t make much difference when I’m shooting so close, (24 feet).
Roll on 2011 and a new gun for Christmas! 🙂 I’m salivating already. I have the SCUBA tank so this is just a fun purchase.
How many ft/lbs or fps do you get with your Kodiaks?

I am pleased that you enjoyed my posts. I sincerely hope that you have great experiences with your .25 Marauder. I shoot mine out to just over 100 yards and it is accurate. I am using the 30+ grain Beeman Kodiaks which I believe are the same as the Baracudas. They do shoot well. For 30 yards and less, I like the Beeman 25 grain Crow Magnums. If you have been redaing my posts then you know that I modify them by pressing a swiss army knife blade into the hollow point cavity twice; 90 degrees to each other such that they from a + accross the cavity. This make them open like a pistol bullet and is devastating on the critters. It also helps to prevent over penetration. The 30 grain and 25 grain, (JSB Kings), domed pellets will easily blow through two pieces of 3/4″ plywood, (that’s in one of my posts also). So, when shooting rats, I like knowing the expanded pellet isn’t capable of penetrating the wooden backstop.
As for chronographs…SHOOTING CHRONY SUCKS!!! DON’T BUY ONE OF THEIRS…BUY THE PRO CHRONO BY COMPETITION ELECTRONICS.
Be very careful with your chronograph…most of shoot ours. I did. 😳 I managed to bean the top of the rear sensor housing that turned out not to be a big deal. Be really, really careful! If you do hit it, well then you have just joined a large fraternity of guys who shot their chronographs. 😀
I purchased my .25 Marauder with the encouragement of Cygnus X, Mamcrackin, and Tofaz. Cygnus X calls his .25 Rapid a “crapid”. He had many troubles with his. He therefore emphatically deterred me from even thinking about a Rapid, but his videos of the .25’s performance really put the hook in me. His Rapid is doing 850 fps with the Kodiaks same as my tuned Marauder. Mam said, “it sounds like you want one. Just buy one and see what it does. If you don’t like it, sell it!” Tofaz makes all of those cool videos also, and his Rapid shoots 950 fps! Just too cool! (He’s got a sexy valve in his…that’s how he gets 950 with the Kodiaks). These guys and many others on the TAG have inspired me. Ya, you are going to spend lots of money. Hopefully it will be worth it to you. It has been great for me! 😀

The “ProChrono Digital Chronograph” is best for the price, it haven’t failed on me yet, you can also purchase a night light kit if you test your gun at night time. You also can purchase the data kit to display your shots on the Notebook, and import/export data to whatever you like.
I owned other chrony before and they failed on me.
