My Rejuvenated Edgun
I had been noticing that my Edgunβs groups were not what they use to be. I read Mamcrackinβs thread and thought that I would try the valve grinding compound and polishing compound on mine. I also polished the inlead and then said, what the hell, and polished the crown also. I got it finished Monday night.
Tuesday, right after work, I had to start drinking the stuff that would clean me out and get me ready for a colonoscopy Wednesday morning. While the stuff was starting to work, I had time to mount A new Hawke 8.5-25 X 42 Tactical and get it sighted in at 25 yards. I was shooting out my kitchen window. I got about 10 shots before the stuff kicked in, there would be no more shooting the Edgun that evening. LOL. The sighting in and 10 shots looked promising.
I got out, of the hospital, and walked the 10 blocks home. The nurse told me no driving for 24 hours. I felt fine and she wouldnβt understand that I HAD TO DRIVE 2 MILES TO THE GUN RANGE. It was too far to carry all of my stuff.
All shots were using un weighed and unsorted JSB 18.1s
I got to the range and tried 50 yards first. I shot the first 4 groups and then went to 100 yards. The last 4 groups, inside the black border, were shot after removing and replacing the shroud and shooting at 100 yards. The first group inside the black border measures .572 for 20 shots. The fourth group, inside the border, I was gonna shoot 20 shots but thought that I would stop at 7.
Here is the 100 yard sheet. The first group is 20 shots after replacing the shroud. The second group, also 20 shots, was with the shroud off. With the shroud removed, the POI raised 2 and a half mils and printed a half mil left. The third group was before I removed the shroud. The last three groups were before removing the shroud. On the last group, I had 4 good shots and then a flier. I shot one more shot and shots 1-4 and #6 measured .482.
I was in a hurry, it was going to be dark soon and the mosquitoes were killing me. I am very happy with the way the Edgun is shooting right now. I plan on going back, when I have more time and a can of Off with me.
I also need to get a scale and weigh my pellets. I am still getting too many fliers.
While previwing this post, I noticed that the first group on the last row, on the 100 yard sheet, looks like an uh-happy face. I probably had that same look while the doc. was invading me.
This is also probably the first time in my life that someone can’t accuse me of being full of shit and be correct. π
I really like the new Hawke. It is at least as clear and bright as my Bushnell 6-24 X 50 Tactical. It also “snaps” into focus better.

One would like to think that Ed has fired a few .25 pellets from his new .25. If Ed is not shouting it up vs the .22 , then don’t hold your breath….
