Q:

How to customize the AF grip….

here is a step by step guide as to how i make my custom grip……

what you will need is
2 X 2oz pack of modeling clay
your stock grip wiped clean with denatured alcohol
a small tub with water (not pictured)
and a rattle can of paint (im going with the plasti-dip paint)

first step is to open both packs and need the clay till its plyable, then slab it onto both sides of the grip….

then i get my grip hand damp (helps to keep the clay from sticking) and grab ahold of the grip and squeeze…i then take some of the excess and move it arround till i get the rough desired shape…

the big thing to remember is that this is clay and cracks are not your friend so this brings us to the next step…Dip a finger into the tub of water and smothe out all the seams and cracks so its one relativly smooth surface…

if you get the edges too thin then it will be more likly to chip and crack….now to the oven…my clay said to bake at 275 for 15min per. 1/4″ of thickness…so i put it in for 20min…I will get the rest of the pictures up as i progress on…Greg [/url]

Nice DIY!!!

But what happens during the 30 mins???? 😆

That is when you drill and tap yours or a buddies breach for a cocking handle made by me….then a couple of beers….

Cool Gun.
What was the PSIG gauge thing with the hand grenade ring between the tank and the gun? I have a Talon SS with a 12″ barrel. The absence of a PSI gauge is a drawback, and that looks like I could add it on.
Do Tell.

and here we are after 20min in the oven and bout 10min to cool down enough to touch it…I like to put the first coat on while its still warm so that the clay cann’t absorb any moisture…

and after 2 more coats (gotta love the 100deg heat out side)…..

I could have sanded it after baking it but it was comfortable in my hand so i figured if my hand made the wrinkles, then they are there for a reason..

Total cost $9.00 (not counting tax)
Clay 2 X $0.99
Plasti-dip spray $7.00
